“When I watch training, some of the things they do baffle me… but only because modern methods are different. Times have changed. But the basics do not. Good players still get the ball and pass it. The really good players still pass it straight away.” In a season that has seen Nottingham Forest employ four different permanent managers, there has been one constant on the club's training pitch — former captain John McGovern, now 76, who offers a struggling squad a friendly handshake and words of encouragement where he can. 📝 @nottmtails 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/71583…

@ITVNewsPolitics It’s not all about reducing bills though is it. Carrying on the production we have and using some of the new licences would create some tax benefits, job and industry security which would benefit the economy. It would also reduce the carbon footprint. In 2050 we will need gas/oil

From today, energy bills will fall by 7% for families across the country. We took the decision in the Budget to ask those with the broadest shoulders to pay their fair share, and today we see the result of that. Vital cost of living support delivered by this government.

@Dan4Barnet Dan, the energy price is for 3 (fairly warm) months before it goes up - expected £300-330py from July. Most of the £117 just moved to other taxes we pay. Other EU countries have cut fuel tax/VAT whereas you have frozen it, so forgive me for not getting too excited

We know people will be concerned about energy costs and rising prices at the pump.   From tomorrow, the new energy price cap kicks in and will save the typical working family around £117 a year off their energy bills.    Last week, the fuel duty freeze also took effect - saving the average motorist over £90.

@ret_ward @Conservatives We can’t survive without fossil fuels now- even with Ed milliband doubling down we will still need fossil fuels in 2050. Why can’t @Labour be honest? Importing gas and wood pellets increase co2 globally whether you call it clean or not. Fact!

I am sorry but this is plain wrong. The goal is to reach net zero emissions globally. Extracting every last bit of oil and gas from the North Sea is not consistent with that goal. Why can’t @Conservatives be straight with the public on energy and climate?
Harriet Cross MP@HarrietCross_MP

To those using a climate change argument as a reason to close down North Sea oil & gas... 👉Supporting the UK's oil & gas sector and wanting to reduce carbon emissions is not incompatible. In fact, it is essential. Explained ⤵️⤵️

@10DowningStreet @Keir_Starmer It’s how you frame it. £117py off your energy bills 👏 Only for the next three months (low use months) and shifting it, so paid by your tax money- not given back. Then up by £300-330 in July, thanks 🤯

I'm utterly appalled I've been a royal & state ceremonial broadcaster for 30 years (BBC, Sky, GB News + Canada & USA) A CORE mission of a state broadcaster is its ability to bring the nation together by covering great national & state occasions, celebrations & traditions For many, that is the main justification for the licence fee: being able to fund serious, high-quality coverage of great British events that commercial TV simply can't Coverage of such events helps to forge national identity and a sense of shared belonging. A BBC that can't or won't do that, is not fit for purpose. Earlier this month, for the first time, the BBC did not cover the Commonwealth Day service from Westminster Abbey. Then we found out that the Boat Race would not be covered on BBC radio for the first time. It has already lost Royal Ascot and the Grand National. Now, the final straw. The brilliant, award-winning team at BBC Studios Events, the group responsible for covering everything from Remembrance Day to the 80th anniversary VE-Day celebrations to Trooping the Colour is to be reduced from 6 to 1. What madman thought this was a sensible way to save money? And how much was saved from those 5 salaries? £300,000? The disgraced Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills earnt more than that per year. Times are tough economically. But does the BBC really require more than 500 employees to work on Glastonbury, an event more notable these days for platforming divisive, far-left artists? I'd gladly sacrifice 1 Claudia Winkelman (earned £2 million last year) to save the team of 5 at BBC Studios Events.

Brilliant news for ordinary working people this week, you are now funding some extra stuff. ▪️Cost of living pay increase of £3300 for MPs ▪️Benefits increase of 6.2% ▪️2 child cap lifted. Labour isn’t on their side, it’s simply using them as cash cows.

@mjshrimper @KieranMaguire I think it should remain for obvious issues - clear handball into the net, foul given with no clear contact, offside by daylight. If you have to spend time checking then let the ref decide.

@DavidMcGregorBN Not one applies to me- you cannot raise energy costs prohibitively then take a bit off and say you’re saving me money. (And they’re going up massively in 3 months) And I’m damn sure I’m being taxed enough to pay for these benefits for others.

🚨 Er... this seems important, just casually loaded on .gov. The government is going to remove a layer of public transparency by stopping consultations with the public. It will ask Ai to help determine what public consultations are unnecessary (Will those be defined as consultations the government knows wont give them the answers it wants) How will we ever know? And how will they know if we agree or not? they won’t and that’s the point. Wow, Shocking 💣
