@ClwydEnComu it's an easy mistake to make, but david thomas and dan thomas are actually different people.

@ClwydEnComu I believe Pravda ran a news story quoting one of the cosmonauts saying it was a "great achievement" rather than denying it happened outright as they had intended to do - so I'm willing to bet they probably did...

Do you reckon the Soviet scientists and cosmonauts cheered when the yanks landed on the moon? Like a fair play kind of thing

This is a really good, spiky debate between Plaid, Greens and Tories. Increasingly sharp distinction between Plaid and Greens on energy infrastructure. @phildavies1995 very good on the need for honesty and realism on pylons vs undergrounding.

Pylons & Welsh politics For anyone interested in our recent #c4news coverage around the onshore wind debate 🔋 in Wales… (and my attempt in the thread below to map out where each party stands) …this is well worth a listen from the Walescast team @felicityxevans & Nick Servini in discussion with Greens, Plaid & Conservatives. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/wal…

From money off energy bills to lifting the two-child benefit cap, Labour is easing the cost of living for working families in Wales.

Over 900,000 people came to Britain last year, net migration figures are only down because many people left. A loss of high skilled, working age British people will have major implications for our economy. This demographic time bomb must be defused before it’s too late.

@dai_alectic my romantic theory is that they enjoy the bike light disturbing small creatures in hedgerows so you get them swooping down over the road and hedges as you pass. Wonderful.

@dai_alectic can recommend extremely long overnight bike rids for owl viewing.. Saw a Barn Owl somewhere in Oxfordshire earlier this year, and a tawny owl (yawn) in Lincolnshire back in August - both a couple of hours before dawn as I plodded solo through the countryside.

We’ve repaired 321km of road surfaces on our trunk roads since 2021. That’s around 3,210 laps in an Olympic sized pool. #FixingOurRoads is one of our priorities. That’s why we investing more in 2025/26

@NealHockley @HuwL1oyd back to my original point (and I can't speak to the culture side) but the main area of concern for sport in Wales is the erosion of free/cheap/accessible places to do the very basic stuff safely. Medals and high performance are the easy part to find non-public funding for.

@HuwL1oyd @mattd_williams I think some of it, e.g. opera, is def a luxury in both the common and econ senses of the word. Yes our budget is set by the UK, but a) the UK is also poorer than Iceland or Lux and b) it's rational for Wales to spend less of our allocation on opera than richer countries do.

@NealHockley @HuwL1oyd whilst it's tempting to view it through that lens, I think maintained and accessible parks (sport) and public libraries (culture) are actually pretty fundamental to a well functioning public sphere.

@HuwL1oyd To an extent they are superior goods and we are poorer than most European countries. If we want more nice stuff we need to sort the economic fundamentals. I think part of our problem is we act like we're richer than we are.
