@matthew00790 @jaythoburn1 I would argue that's because Ronaldo holds them back now. Not his fault, it's the manager's, as Ronaldo at 41 shouldn't be leading the line as he doesn't affect games anymore. On paper though, Portugal are as good as anyone really except France.

With Ronaldo we are talking about a player who has scored fewer World Cup open play knockout stage goals than Matthew Upson. Pele was brilliant, carried his team to back-to-back World Cups before he even turned 23. Ronaldo great, but not even the greatest of his own generation and possibly not even the best ever player called Ronaldo 🤷♂️

@Capt_Fishpaste You probably never seen pele play and come on he was playing against players who couldn’t even get in the San Marino team. Following on before Portugal never won a trophy until Ronaldo. I grew up watching both play and adore them both but Ronaldo is better
