If you crowd the plate, you gotta expect to be hit. And if you get hit, it doesn't mean you have to go nails up as you're sliding into 2nd.

@RyanDod21982336 @ZMJ13 I never suggested the HBP were intentional. Not a single time. The approach is intentional and, again, that's fine. You really think any MIL guy who got hit that often by a single team (say CHC or STL) wouldn't be just as irritated?

If you've been hit that many times by the same team, including 6 by Woodruff alone, you have a right to be pissed off. Even if the HBP isn't intentional the way they pitch him is dangerous and if one of their guys was getting hit by the same team like that they'd be pissed too.

@gonglei89 @OnDisasters OK. I understand your logic. You're saying there is one China. Some countries will say PRC is China, others will claim ROC is China. But with 80% of Taiwanese citizens 18-35 years old identitying as Taiwanese and not Chinese, the policy will most likely change in my lifetime.

The NFL and NBA have been chasing international markets for years. Meanwhile the WBC just packed a stadium in Tokyo for NINE INNINGS of Japan vs Korea — and nobody left early. They brought Ohtani home. They brought Yamamoto home. They put the best Japanese players in MLB back in front of the fans who grew up watching them — and added Korea and Chinese Taipei to the same pool. That’s how you actually build a global sport. The NFL and NBA are still figuring out what baseball already solved. Give baseball credit where credit is due.

@j_clem I hope this same energy is here when City haven't won a game (match for you Eurofans) by week five. This season is looking like a repeat of last year to me: key players injured or unavailable so they're unable to fully implement the style they want.

The pendulum swings from reaction from week 1 to 2 have been wild so far. Do I think it was a great #AllForCITY performance? No. Do I think it was a good performance? Not necessarily. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to call for Damet out or to call what he’s building a failure. We’ve heard it consistently since he was hired. There will be “times we suffer” and moments it will not look great. These are growing pains. It takes time to install a system. And it can’t be discounted that there were major pieces missing last night. As the week goes on, and reflection happens, perhaps there will be some positives to build on. It’s fair to be critical. I’m not calling for blindly supporting the team. But one, early season performance with key pieces missing, does not a full picture paint. Perhaps, more than anything last night is a recalibration of expectations. Maybe there was a bit overreaction to the performance against Charlotte that makes last night’s game in San Diego sting worse than it should. I think I’m going to shift how I look at these games a bit. That doesn’t mean results don’t matter. But maybe it’s less game to game and more big picture that needs to be seen during these early days for Damet.
