In 1959, 69 black boys were padlocked in their dormitory at school and it was then set on fire. 21 burnt to death while 48 managed to escape. A THREAD.

On July 17, 2014, Russia killed 298 innocent people. Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down over Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine by a Russian Buk missile system. There were no survivors. An international investigation concluded that the missile launcher belonged to Russia’s 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade based in Kursk. A Dutch court later convicted three men for their roles in the attack. Twelve years later, Russia still denies responsibility, while those convicted remain in Russia, protected from justice. We remember all 298 victims and stand with their families. Justice delayed is not justice denied.

After Mexico abolished slavery in 1829, many enslaved African Americans escaped across the border seeking freedom. Mexican law recognized them as free people once they entered Mexican territory, and Mexican authorities generally refused U.S. demands to return them to slavery. Although slave catchers sometimes crossed into Mexico illegally to recapture escapees, Mexican officials and local residents often protected the freedom of those who had sought sanctuary there.
