Why do people act like meat eating is unique to their culture
ponding👀🇱🇧@alotoft7282_
Vegans piss me off. I won’t let them demonize my cultural food for being heavily meat based, while they won’t dogshit on the true enemy capitalism for making industries unethnical 😹

@reason17164257 @Sean22996353 @mattmc_c Talking about peer reviewed research but I haven't seen any from you. Supermarkets are terrible. Anything bought from them has a massive carbon impact due traveling distance. Meat is always a domestic product. What it wastes in production, international produce wastes in transit.
English

@delapilap Ok so while 99.9% of people are eating factory farmed meat, what they are doing is morally reprehensible like you said. And yet leftists defend it using woke word soup and doing noble savage/appeal to nature right wing arguments in order to justify it, hence my tweet
English

@mattmc_c That is what I said.
I clarified because there is a meaningful difference between those things. It's important to clarify what part is actually immoral.

@a_o_rdj @alphabetoatmeal @superfrankfan I’ve been simultaneously told that I don’t like meat because I can’t cook and that other people don’t like beans because they can’t cook
English

@alphabetoatmeal @mattmc_c @superfrankfan They are if you know how to cook them, ask anyone from Latin America

@RebeccaNP @FlexBeef Of course, under capitalism there’s nothing we can do and morality doesn’t exist. I will keep mashing the kill button until capitalism magically collapses
English

@youcowardman 1. I’m not an environmentalist. 2. Have a look what the majority of soy production is used for
English

The bigger woke gymnastics is environmentalists pretending fake cheese created in Greece with tofu harmfully extracted from the Amazon is better for the environment than milk from a cow down the road.
matt🏴@mattmc_c
If a left wing person defends eating meat with “meat yummy” I respect their opinion way more (still barely any) than those who do woke gymnastics to justify it
English

@jesterlina480p probably wouldn’t be eating eggs either tbf but that’s a different argument
English

i think eating meat and buying real first hand leather/fur/etc are morally equivalent

English

@mattmc_c meat is yummy and morality is bourgeois bullshit so no im not going vegan
English

@mimishooshoo the fuck you on about I’ve never known anyone eat eels in my life
English

@mattmc_c that’s what happens when ur cultural background is “eels wrapped in mayo and jelo”. you lack any cultures to make non meat recipe good and that’s why u end up suggesting lentils in every dish.
English

@delapilap the second doesn’t happen in 99.9% of cases though so it’s not really an argument worth having. Basically nobody who is eating meat is eating non-factory farmed meat
English

@mattmc_c Eating meat is morally defensible. Any form of factory farming (aka meat at any scale actually needed to feed society) is morally reprehensible.
There would be nothing wrong with giving animals good lives and eating their meat once they die, it just doesn't really happen much.
English

@mattmc_c I’ve just decided I will not deny myself one of life‘s few genuine pleasures, like the taste of juice flowing out of a flavorful meat.
