Tony Blair might not like my plan, but he's wrong: it's changing Britain for the better.

@TotalMotorcycle Yes always. But there are a lot that don’t.

@Teamgrassroots_ Yes you made a mistake I did the same and would never do it again. I would rather the game be called off than ref a game as parents on the losing team will 100% think you are cheating. 🤷♂️ no win situation

Message received from a Coach/Parent
Just wanted to share something that’s been playing on my mind. I’m a youth coach for an U13s team, and after our friendly on Saturday, the referee for the next game didn’t turn up. It was another U13 game —higher division, two strong teams. I happened to know a few of the lads playing as I’d coached some of them before.
Some of the parents and one of the coaches approached me and asked if I’d step in to referee, rather than have the game called off. I checked with both managers, who were happy for me to do it, so I agreed.
I did my absolute best, ran my socks off, and tried to make it a fair, enjoyable experience for the players. The match was a cracking one—ended 3–2. Unfortunately, after a decision regarding a goal kick or a corner, the losing manager lost his head.
He started mocking me—taking the mick out of me for wearing glasses, with people on his touchline laughing along. He then confronted me in quite an intimidating way, saying I should never be allowed near football again.
I’m a dad—my own son was there—and I also happen to be a paediatric doctor, so I spend my life working with children and understand how important it is to set the right example. I chose not to respond and walked away, but to be honest, it’s still bothering me.
I gave up my time, volunteered for free, just to help the kids get a game of football—and this is what I got in return.
Did I make a mistake by agreeing to ref? And how do I stop feeling so low about it?
Sorry for the long post, and thanks for reading.

@suziperry Honestly that was brilliant today all the coverage and the race all top notch. Definitely looks like a race to go to at some point.

@SkySportsNews That’s absolutely brilliant fair play to the lad going all in and learning the language. More of us should do it. He’s gone well up in my estimation 👍

@Ed_Miliband So what does great British energy own then? How does it benefit us? Genuine question

@CarverEmily Hopefully he gets it under control. I think most people are happy to have migration because it’s nice to think you would be able to migrate somewhere else. But I think if you want to migrate then you should integrate and speak the language

@Keir_Starmer This is a good thing to happen in this country well done I say. Fair play to labour they are getting things done just hope we can all stay busy at work.

@Keir_Starmer Get it done keep it open subsidise it if needs be. We need to make sure we can do things for ourselves in this country. Not alienate ourselves but make sure we can make anything and everything if we have too.
