@dustinharding I’ve been a fan of the Baja model for over a decade. No other model actually makes sense based on the text and the actions of the people.

I'm so entirely not jealous that my Brother-in-Law @jexrp is helping David Rosenvall with the Stick of Joseph videography tour to Baja California.😳 Nope. Not jealous at all. Not at all. Not at...😳 #BookOfMormonGeography @latterdailyst youtu.be/aIeBFtP7XZA

BIG NEWS
A NEW Book of Mormon geography theory just hit on the Stick of Joseph Podcast.
Location?
The Baja, California Peninsula.
There's actually a lot of impressive scientific research behind this theory.
Here's Part I from the podcast (more to come): youtube.com/watch?v=aIeBFt…

@jaredadairbell That said, official church teaching and recent messages even by President Oaks favor your interpretation so I’m fine either way. If someone is wrong but they lived according to the laws of the Celestial Kingdom, will it really matter?
English

@jaredadairbell There is actually some compelling research suggesting that we might have misinterpreted that part of Section 131–that “Celestial” in that section may have been used as a synonym for “heavenly.” So the it may simply have clarified section 76 in light of recent revelation.

@Bobby_Clayson There are always methods for getting around it. Rent someone a glass bottle and give them the option to fill it with raw milk. Sell someone a chicken and give them the free option of butchering it. Cow share: give away milk for free, but have people pay for feed and labor. Etc.
English

@mattuthomas Lol. Is it that crazy out there?
English

@Bobby_Clayson That looks like a great service! Were I in Utah I’d be very interested. As it stands, if I tried to do something like this in California, I’d probably do hard time. 😵
English

@mattuthomas That's awesome.
You might find my startup interesting.

The Seventh-day Adventists are plant-based. They live longer than average Americans. This gets cited constantly as evidence that not eating meat extends your life.
The Mormons eat meat. They live just as long.
Both groups don't smoke. Both groups don't drink. Both groups have strong community bonds, regular religious practice, and lower stress.
The Adventists themselves aren't even mostly vegetarian: only about 27% are lacto-ovo vegetarians, and less than 3% are vegan. Over half eat meat regularly.
What the studies actually show is that not smoking, not drinking, and having a reason to get out of bed extends your life.
The meat is a red herring.

@Sola_GPT @SamaHoole I really appreciate the nuance that has been brought to this conversation recently. @BenBikmanPhD’s take on this is quite good, for example.
English

@SamaHoole LDS are also supposed to eat meat “sparingly” and many of us do
You also have to control for socioeconomic level

About a decade or so ago I went through a faith crisis. I never felt the need to trash the faith of my family and forebears. I questioned it. Pushed on it. Even blamed God for a bit. That didn’t take me very far. Keeping it mostly quiet did. The path back wasn’t sudden. More like something that becomes visible as you move. Slow. Uneven. Sometimes you’re crawling.

@CAgovernor @JenSiebelNewsom Will you and the rest of your staff be taking this as well?

@TolkienWorldG Lindsay Ellis has a great analysis. The problem is that the book (and initially the movie) were focused on an adventure of a merry band of brothers. Then the studio decided that it needed to be LOTR 2.0. Completely changed the story. youtu.be/uTRUQ-RKfUs?si…

The story is great …… I hated the ending though especially how the love story turned out however my issue isn’t the story or imagery or Legolas being such a warrior. It’s the cgi … that is the biggest reason it didn’t hit like LOTR. You can tell they went lazy on the production quality because it was less expensive.

Were we too harsh on the Hobbit Trilogy?

@twoPlankBro @chrishardman I’m not particularly worried. I’d be more concerned if I lived near a particularly busy street.

@chrishardman I haven’t. Have you? How does it compare to your cell phone/computer that you are addicted to? Is there any research that suggest that the emf values have any correlation to rates of cancer? Curious!
