Homeschooling is a lifestyle, not just a location. I love the lifestyle that homeschooling affords my family. Meals, errands, books, chores, prayer, conversations, and all the rest are part of our education as well as our family life.

I want a truck with no GPS or tracking. I want a house that doesn't spy on me. I want a government that builds roads and maintains the military and stays out of my business. I want the constitution of the United States respected and upheld. I want the government to be the last thing I ever think about, just like the founders intended.

If you are trying to build a peaceful homeschool, listen as much as you talk. Especially with teenagers. Simply being heard softens a lot of tension.

Sometimes a child’s attention returns more quickly after ten minutes outside than after ten more reminders at the table. Fresh air is good pedagogy! (I love using big words like pedagogy!)

@maureenwittmann That’s so wonderful to hear that the habit carried onto your grandkids! I hope my kids will carry that onto their children, too! We might read The Hobbit as a family in the near future.

Go deep into subjects instead of wide. For example, world history can be a deep dive into Byzantine History or the History of Latin America, rather than a semester that barely touches on every single era from Creation to today. One of the beautiful things about going deep is that it is way more interesting and, frankly, fun. Your child will then be way more likely to want to know more. We’re creating lifelong learners here, not just test-takers. We want education to come alive!

Every parent needs to see this. Shocking MRI study on preschoolers (ages 3-5) reveals that just 2 hours of daily interactive screen time is causing measurable LOSS of white matter in their developing brains.  This directly impairs language, literacy, and neural connectivity.  Little brains need real-world play, love, and human connection — not devices rewiring them before kindergarten.  Protect your children. Put the screens down.

@ChrisOhnimus @SDDonovan One of my blog authors has taken the opposite approach He’s started using em-dashes purposely just because he’s adamant that he doesn’t want AI dictating his writing 😆

@SDDonovan I guarantee you that if someone wants to accuse you of using AI, the lack of em-dashes won't stop them. When creating, disregard the AI controversy entirely and write the way you want to write.

It's gotten so bad that I removed em dashes from my novel, and even stopped using the "3" rule because someone will accuse me of AI. (Aka he moved quietly, with purpose, determined, to find the duck). That's terrible but you get it.😅 It's sad. I shouldn't have to do this.

"Doc" Hypnosis 🧠 | BowTied Brain-Hacking
My daughter finished up her 2nd year of college and got her exam results back. I asked her how it went. Now, my question for you: if she told you what she told me, "I opened the report and it was just a picture of The Fonz," would you understand what she meant?

Not teaching students math facts because they can use calculators, spelling rules because they have spell check, historical dates because they can google it, or writing skills because they have Al is a travesty. Depriving students of these things enslaves them to technology rather than freeing them to flourish as human beings.

Homeschooling doesn’t mean carrying the whole burden by yourself. It means you remain the one making the decisions. Tutors, co-ops, and online classes can all be part of wise homeschooling if you so choose.

Today, give Jesus your belief. It doesn’t have to be perfect belief: whether you’re struggling with doubt, or you keep forgetting what he promised, whatever your circumstance or situation, give him what belief you have. He will take that tiny, broken belief, and he will treasure it. they will nurture it and make it grow. You are so very beautiful to Him. #talkedtotheboss

Children need to hear rich language long before they can read it on their own. That’s one reason read-alouds matter so much. Listening comprehension comes first.
