My point is that it’s crazy to buy a house that is 30% your income. My mtg could be $3,500 and month and I’d still be like 15%.

Surely 5x isn't the real number that makes sense. The hyperbolic argument doesn't help the case.
A community can make a reasonable arguments via community benefit agreements (power usage and caps, noise C-weighting, water issues, etc.) and consider the low impact tax base and the indirect economic multipliers (immediate construction and ongoing employment, benefits to infrastructure, local expertise in technology, etc.). There's an obvious win-win here that's not NIMBYism.
