Nurse Dawn Wooten, a @GovAcctProj client, has received public support, national awards, and recognition from lawmakers after blowing the whistle on Irwin County Detention Center’s medical misconduct. One thing she’s still waiting for? Justice. newyorker.com/podcast/the-ne…

While global leaders have been delaying decisive action, Cuba has developed its own COVID-19 vaccines, successfully immunised most of its population, and is now set to help vaccinate the world. aje.io/s9ug9j @AJEnglish

Deeply disturbing if true. Seeking asylum from persecution is a human right and should not be conditioned on health or vaccination status. We are gravely concerned about the coercive nature of this proposed policy. axios.com/white-house-va…

Vaccine equity is an ethical, epidemiological & economic imperative. If we don’t end inequity, we don’t end the pandemic & the economic, social etc. turmoil it causes. Reaching 70% target together is the only way to end the acute phase of the pandemic, and drive global recovery

Key blunders by SCOTUS: * OSHA imposed a "vaccine mandate". No, it didn't. Workers can test & mask * "No special workplace risk": No one spends 8 hours a day w/ a crowd of strangers except at work * Congress didn't authorize major econ impacts: OSHA, EPA & FDA do that every day

Dissent is spot on: The Court’s order seriously stymies the Federal Government’s ability to counter the unparalleled threat that COVID–19 poses to our Nation’s workers. Acting outside of its competence & without legal basis, the Court displaces the judgments of public officials

"We’re not heroes or angels or any of the other things that well-meaning people call us. We are just human beings who are not immune to the pressure, grief and relentless crush of misery this pandemic causes." ❤️scientificamerican.com/article/nurses… via @sciam

"if the definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ is now a series of three doses in all, then full vaccine coverage in low-income countries is effectively zero." We must rethink production goals if everyone needs 3+ doses. Part of path to #VaccineEquity is more vaccines! @peoplesvaccine

The #Omicron variant proves the collective nature of the pandemic – until everyone, everywhere has access to the #CovidVaccine, variants will continue to circulate & threaten progress. @POTUS’ plan must include a much stronger commitment to global #VaccineEquity.
