Abolishing the £2 bus fare cap is a political choice disproportionately hitting the poor. With rising costs & stagnant wages, it’s a step backwards - especially when more accessible transport is needed. The government must reverse this & introduce wealth taxes to fund services.

The Labour government has confirmed a 50% rise in bus fares - a blow for everyone who relies on buses in the cost of living crisis 📉 This is the wrong approach – government should be supporting our economy and environment by making it easier to get around without a car 🚏🚌

Not happy with making people choose between heating and eating, Labour adds daily travel? A fifty per cent fare hike will be a burden many can’t take. Buses get low paid people to work, students to college, parents to shops, and are accessible to everyone who can’t afford a car.

A 50% price hike on people going to work, kids getting to school or college. Why disincentivise sustainable travel? Or are we going to get a load of briefings that some bus passengers are millionaires and can afford it? We’ve crossed the threshold where Sir Keir’s Labour government is more regressive than Mr Sunak's Tories.
