The writing in God od War: Laufey already looks to be shit from this gameplay trailer. Faye talks to herself because we have to make it painfully obvious what she thinks and feels at any given moment. Wrle have ti make sure the player doesn't need to do any interpretation or thinking of their own. Can't even be interesting because her thoughts are incredibly basic, providing little to no insight into anything deeper. We truly are in the era of "Focus M" dialogue. The dialogue between Faye and other characters is also shockingly simple. Even the flow and pacing of dialogue is off. Very few words are spoken and there are awkward pauses in dialogue to pad out scenes. For a game introducing us to a new world with new characters, the dialogue is surprisingly lacking in personality, and motivation. Anything we learn about a character must be stated out loud rather than subtly inferred through how they choose speak and what they choose to speak about. The only personality comes from the quirky "Marvel humor" esque lines from the ribbons and the cube. Which is weak and poorly done to death at this point. And a fucking talking cosmic jello cube? That's what we've come to? Writers are so lacking in imagination they wrote a cube as a sidekick. Maybe they really think thats makes them quirky and original. On a greater narrative level, this story not only opens word building issues with an afterlife for multiple pantheons of gods -which makes me wonder how Faye other non-god beings got there- but retcons Faye's afterlife into something completely at odds with the heart of 2018 and Ragnarok's narrative. Is she peacefully at rest watching over her son and husband on their path? Does she see or hear Kratos' essentially prayers for spiritual guidance? Nah, she's immediately just in some other dimension being a badass. I'm sure they'll find moments to weakly tie into the established narrative, but it doesn't matter anymore. The premise of this game ruins Faye's established role in Norse saga. These writers have proven they are not the ones to trust with the GOW universe, in a pretty short amount time no less. They are either unaware or uncaring of established characters and canon. They instead would rather force a badass female empowerment story in a world where said character was already a powerful badass with what we learned about her in the two previous games. They could've at least made it a prequel for her character before established events. But no, we get this slop instead. Bravo guys! Another beloved IP is now on the way to its grave! youtu.be/HLMX2w3cwuE?si…
