Lets settle the debate for God of War - Laufey once and for all shall we? 👇 Speaking as a big god of war fan and gamer in general btw.. So playing as a woman is not the issue here, the combat looks just fine to me as well, and it could integrate into the GOW story very well and introduce new mythologies and cool characters into the universe. The problem is, like with many other games, there are too much signs that they have lost touch with their target audience and fan base, and their decisions reflect that. (talking sword, talking cube, purple flames, cheesy dialogue etc) In my opinion we already were starting to go that way slowly in Ragnarok. We have seen this before, and it always fails. why? Because to me this shows that they no longer have the franchise's best interested at heart. They knew that these decisions were going to cause this discourse, and everyone who have seen the latest daredevil season knows they uglified the actress as well. When you have people being able to make a better character design with AI you also know they have done this on purpose, like we have seen many times before. Even if you were going this route for the game while keeping the God of War title, just by making that simple change to the design for both the lead protagonist and in my opinion also what seems to be the main villain 👇 There has always been sexy designs in the original trilogy, there was a threesome minigame with two hot girls for crying out loud. They would alleviate some of the backlash by going a different route on the designs.. NOW, Im not saying this is the way it should be, but it is just the way it is, and everyone knows it. Which in turn makes it even more clear that they don't have the games best interest at heart. We have seen these red flags before and it always turn out the same, so why should people expect this case to be different? I really hope we are all wrong though and that the game is great, as I am sure we all want more great GOW games. Hey @SonySantaMonica, If you really wanted a strong female character you had plenty of options, much better ones in fact. Example (SPOILER ALERT): Thrúd. She literally WANTED to be the strongest valkyrie and is Thor's daughter (a god of war, yes, even if Tyr is also one). She can lift Mjolnir. Kratos is literally alone and sad now and Thrúd lost her dad. Make Kratos act as teacher for her. Let Kratos train her. And really NO ONE would have an issue with her being a strong woman when she got our beloved Kratos as teacher. INSTEAD, YOU MADE: A random ass woman who has never seen a fight, mythologically speaking, compete with Kratos and Thor (There is no evidence in the Poetic and Prose Edda that suggests Laufey was a warrior. In fact they say the opposite, she was fragile and weak. She was often called "Nàl"...which means needle). I literally made a better story in 2 minutes as i was eating a taco during my break. We have to talk about this Disney-fication of games. This ruined WoW and now it's on the way to ruin God of War: Laufey (terrible name). Modern designers seem to have an unquenchable desire to take epic stories with grit and then shove in cute animals, jelly cubes with millennial dialog, dancing sentient "ribbons" and colors dredged from rainbow vomit. This feels like they never grew out of needing a safe space. It feels like they are incapable of adult themes and problems and it feels like a total avoidance of adulthood and accountability. And it's so off putting to see in a God of War game. You might as well have called it something else. It has zero ties aside from the name to the originals. Stop taking games that are supposed to be about war and violence and gritty mythology and turning them into theme-park rides for 5 year olds.

Alanah Pearce has said she worked full-time for four years on God of War: Laufey but left in late 2024 and is no longer involved at all. “So here’s the God of War game I spent four years writing.” When asked how involved she was with the project, Pearce replied: “I worked on it full-time for four years, so thousands upon thousands of hours of involvement. I wrote characters, levels, story beats, dialogue, etc. But I left in late 2024 and the work they’re doing now is much harder. I’m currently not involved at all, and plenty of my work will have been replaced.” I guess she wrote another cook book
