To be clear for @wizards_magic on EW NA falling on Halloween: I won Vintage in 2024. I top 4’d Vintage in 2025. I would’ve loved to try to run it back in 2026, but because it’s on Halloween, I’m not gonna be a dad who skips trick or treating with his kids to go play Magic.

@BeldinAndrew @maxtortion @wizards_magic Also, fwiw, Halloween has become a more popular adult holiday throughout my lifetime. I feel like I rarely used to see adults throwing big Halloween parties. I know a lot of people who are not doing EW NA this year because they just have plans already, not even kids.

@LemorasCards @wizards_magic They must have seen that people were attending all 3 events last year and thought “not on my watch!”

@maxtortion @wizards_magic Facts! I’m just a mediocre legacy enjoyer, but I’ll also be prioritizing my kids and Halloween. Broadly I feel like this date is quite tone deaf to the demographics of our group.

@TogoresMTG The fact that I’m not actually sure if these are Forest or Plains cards should tell you all you need to know.

Been having a debate at a LGS chat about people using “Forest” cards with Plains artwork. They’re technically legal, but feel misleading and can misrepresent the game state. What’s everyone’s take? fine at tournaments, or something that shouldn’t be legal?

Eternal Weekend NA over Halloween?! Can’t wait to explain to my kids that Daddy can’t go trick-or-treating this year because he has to cast an Ancestral Recall in Pittsburgh 🙃 I expect a lot of Legacy/Vintage players are in a similar position. Can we move the date a week?

On the positive side, this might be the push I need to go to Italy instead!

@kailun_irl Pushing blue because if blue wins, great, and if red wins, I don’t want to exist in a world solely populated by red button pushers.

it's so obvious that you should press the blue button cmon. if even 1% of people press blue (maybe because they are e.g. elderly, children, or sick) when everyone else presses red that is still the worst tragedy in human history and it's not close, but that is easily avoidable!
