Loads of comments on yesterday’s post about the job Dyche is doing at #NFFC. Some satisfied, others suggesting he could/should be doing more. Interesting table below comparing the impact made by the 27 managers who’ve inherited a bottom 6 PL team in mid-season since 2020/21👇🏻 As you can see, when ranked by ‘Points Per Game Increase’ only FOUR of the other 26 managers have overseen a bigger improvement during the season in which they took over than Dyche has at Forest. The obvious caveat of course being that this season is still very much ‘in progress’ so the the performance of Dyche (and Nuno & Edwards) all highlighted in Orange, can still get better, or worse. Also worth noting the Blue highlighted names which are/were all the ‘3rd managers’ of the season for their respective clubs. Essentially, this illustrates just how difficult it is to have a significantly transformative impact on a struggling team - very few have managed it. ESPECIALLY when you are cleaning up 2 people’s mess, not just 1. The point in the season in which new managers are appointed also has a bearing - as you’d expect, those who’ve done best generally had more time (like Dyche) to turn things around. The second graph illustrates this. (And also backs up the notion that making yet ANOTHER change this season would likely pose a bigger risk than just letting him get on with the job until May).

@ForestNews_Info @Panks80 Agree with most of what you say. But someone thought a midfield two of Luiz and McAtee was the way to go last night. And he can't escape criticism for what happened, largely as a result.

@Panks80 I'm not sure some of them are better than what we're seeing. McAtee always was a weakling. He's never impressed me at all & I strongly believed he'd be a waste of money. We bought Ndoye & Bakwa on the back of one good year. Zinch hardly played since 2023. Luiz...known frailties.

Final one piece on this, Had he defended the players we would have jumped on him for not calling a spade a spade. He had to say it imo. Issue is he can’t get the best out of the squad- and with this feedback it will make it harder. Signings have been poor but surely they are better this what we are seeing? #nffc

@CallumCastel7 VAR thought it was probably a yellow. If they'd sent the ref to the screen, under the current rules, he couldn't have given a yellow, which would make the whole situation look ridiculous, so they decided to take the easy way out and do nothing.

The more I watch this, the more I genuinely can’t understand how the referees not even been sent to the screen. It’s not just the act, it’s the fact he’s caught him off guard from behind. The neck movement from Ndoye says it all, it’s fucking dangerous

@siwathall @wt_analysis In Europe, four of the locally trained slots are reserved for club trained players. We’ve only got Yates, so we lose the other three places. Bott, Abbott and most of the rest of the academy are List B and unrestricted.

@wt_analysis Why do we only have 22 slots? Your graphic suggests we have 11 who qualify as "locally trained" and we only lose a squad place for every one under the minimum of 8 needed, sorry if misunderstood

@Grantnffc1 Can't see Richards playing regularly with his recent injury history, so could imagine Williams/Aina as first choices with Aina and Moreira back up on the right and Toff/Richards on the left. Not seen many links with full backs, if we make any signing(s) that changes things.

@Grantnffc1 I don't expect us to have a full 25 man squad anyway. After January there were a few players in it who clearly weren't part of Nuno's plans (Shelvey & Konate), it wouldn't surprise me if both Richards and Toffolo were in our 25.

It would be ludicrous for #NFFC to cash in on Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer. I imagine there would be uproar amongst the supporters over the summer. £3m - some of the best business the club has done is recent times.

@Grantnffc1 Probably - there were only a couple of games when Gardner and maybe a couple of others made our bench in January. But we've been relatively lucky with injuries - if Nuno stays and gets his smaller squad, that inevitably will create more chances.

@Grantnffc1 I also looked up the two Luton guys and considering their small squad and massive injury problems, they still only played 2 and 4 minutes. I think it's a broader problem outside the really elite academies.

@Grantnffc1 I agree it's a problem and I wish the club would show more intent in that direction (Osong coming off the bench on Sunday would be a nice start) but I don't think Trafford and Ramsey give any more hope at Burnley than Elanga and Omo here (i.e. zero).

@Grantnffc1 With you now. So Elanga misses out by 3 months, Omobamidele by 6 months but Nwaneri's 13 minutes for Arsenal gets them a pass. Doesn't feel like there's enough data there for the conclusion you want to draw.
