Italophile but Suffolk comes a close second. I am alive because of the advent of Bcr-Abl tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Sono fortunata 🍀

I go off on a rant about the importance of art history. Is there a more important subject you can study? Possibly medicine. But that’s it! Say I! In the latest episode of the podcast they could not stop! youtu.be/CQqBGPeNuFE?si…

This made me so sad. 👇 How on earth did we get to a stage where Art History is deemed so lowly and unimportant and unnecessary that only 800 people a year take thé A-level! Madness. It’s the human story. Frôm thé very beginning. Before there were words, there was art.

My Art Newspaper article from last month on the decline of art history as a subject. (Still amused by the QAA disliking even the word art - a ‘historical construct rooted in European colonial expansion’.)

Enough of the bullshit, enough of the rhetoric, enough of the fiddling around the edges, enough of rearranging the deckchairs, enough of pointless commissions and even more pointless reports, enough of the lying, enough of the deceit, enough of the gaslighting, enough of the masquerade, enough of the pretending it's time for govt to get a grip, to show leadership, to show determination, to do the right thing, to act. It's time to put the water industry back into public ownership and the time to do that is now. But have they got the balls?!

17 Dec: Saturnalia, held 17th–23rd December, was the Romans’ midwinter festival marked by gift-giving, feasting, and role reversal between masters and slaves. It is thought mistletoe may have been hung over doorways during the festivities to bring peace and good fortune. #history

Breaking news. A certain Bendor Grosvenor, also known as 'Bendy', and a certain Waldemar Januszczak, also known as 'Waldy', have escaped from Broadmoor and are heading to a studio in London where they are threatening to relaunch their podcast. Beware. These men are dangerous.

The Autumn Equinox is about now, a few minutes ago in fact, heralding the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, close bosom-friend of the maturing sun'. 'Autumn Leaves' by Sir John Everett Millais, 1856, photographed in Manchester City Art Gallery.

@thesuffolkcoast Sailors Path in June. Wonderful hot spells of sunshine created a fabulous mixed environment for hundreds of butterflies - will never forget the joy of that walk between Aldeburgh and Snape.

@bloodcancer_uk Exhaustion - doesn’t always show on your face but is felt deep in the body. Hard to explain that you can wake in the morning and count the hours until you can possibly get back into bed!

Anyone who hears the ringing of a bluebell will be visited by a malicious fairy & die soon after And picking a bluebell can anger the fairies, leading to misfortune and/or being spirited away by them, never to be seen again Just working on our new visitor fact sheet FAQ 🫤

A peaceful river walk at sunset on the eve of summer solstice. Beautiful☀️weather forecast for the next few days. Summer sun and long days with windows and doors open until late are the best.
