This is true more generally. Classicists sit on a goldmine of high quality resources. The chronicles of Portuguese imperial history, which I needed to read for a recent project, have never been translated into English.

Classics students have no idea how good they have it. Even if you don’t like Emily Wilson’s translation, at least she is clearly a highly-educated scholar of Ancient Greek. Our *most popular* Beowulf translation is by Seamus Heaney, who could barely read Old English
