The point of Twitter verification is that for certain individuals/organizations it’s useful to be able to verify their statements are coming from them. (This is why so many journalists/reporters are verified.) It’s supposed to help combat disinformation, not be a status symbol.

The cost of the 1st draft human genome sequence in 2000 was ~$300 million genome.gov/about-genomics… This week it came down to $200 And it's far more complete

I love symmetry - 300 mile range, 3:00 pm. If only it were 300 F outside, it would be perfect.

@GntlmnScientist It's real. We have a chapter at SCU, and it's an honor to be nominated. But I don't think you'd get much out of it at this point.

@drGregBowman @agrossfield @BenBGDalton As an academic in an open office, it's horrible. Everyone agrees, so few people come into the office, removing any gains in collaboration. Students share stuff w profs that I should not overhear. Have to find and reserve a private space for any meetings - zoom or in person.

why does academia have to be architecturally organised into closed, lonely individual offices? can we not redesign academia and all be in shared open plan spaces? I visited an open plan office today and it was so nice?!? who would prefer that? surely better for collabs and MH?

@emerkhofer Potentially. Do you think 3D printer materials would manage not to get compressed at ~5k xg?

I'm looking for an adapter I can use to spin 16-mL round-bottom culture tubes in a rotor meant for 15-mL conicals ... for less than thousands of dollars. Anyone know of a product?
