I think Fears and Queen will take a jump from year 1 to year 2.
If they can somehow get a starting Center that can shoot and put him next to Zion, let’s roll. But they have to get more depth at the Center position

@NOLAJake it’s hard to value the intangibles here we will not know the potential ceiling of Fears and queen until next year imo Jordan has special relationship with these guys and even the vets they look up to him

Pelicans wanted DeAndre Jordan back and were willing to over pay a bit to make it happen. This fits how they've been operating of go and get your guy and worry about other consequences later

Really good stuff here. In here the Pelicans were convinced DeAndre Jordan would accept an offer for a vet minimum elsewhere and so gave him two years. Important for the Pels to get this narrative out.
But remember, DJ was one of the first deals announced in free agency...

Didn't they sign him to a vet minimum last year? Yes and they know the benefits of it.
However according to Marc Stein he had another vet minimum deal from another team on the table too.

Would be useful for someone with the Pelicans to address this. It's limiting cap flexibility for what seems like incompetence or ignorance of the CBA. If it's because Jordan commanded a second guaranteed year in the open market, that's something Dumars should come out and say.
