British Government in a shambles tonight. Nobody quite clear who’s in charge. Who would have thought Labour would be been even more useless than the Tories? Starmer living on borrowed time. Support ebbing away. But to what? Nobody knows. The world has rarely been more dangerous in modern times and we barely have a government.

Starmer's replacement will probably be far, far worse. It's the natural consequence of placing the decision in the hands of Labour MPs and potentially (perish the thought) Labour members.

Exactly. That is why he is so insufferable. Of course politicians have to lie, the electorate cannot stomach the truth. That's why they love the Greens and Reform. But Starmer out-lies even those accomplished liars. Almost everything he and his appalling party says is the opposite of what they mean. They cover up corruption. Take bribes and hand outs. Carry out legislation not in their manifesto that has immense effect on all of us. Turn a blind eye to police and judicial malpractice and electoral fraud. Abhorrent.

To save me answering the same question, all politicians lie. Boris was an inveterate liar. But I have never seen a Prime Minister who has combined such extensive lying with such a broad and un-self-aware attempt to frame themself as a paragon of virtue, as Keir Starmer.
