There is a difference between reported vs actual. Illegal aliens are less likely to report crime due language barriers, lack of trust of authority, and fear of being deported. As for your wife example. In that type situation, you know her, you know her capabilities, and you know threat assessment. In that type of situation, it's easier to use restraint. He did not know this women, whether she was going to press the attack, if she had weapons or anything else. He eliminated the threat using non lethal means.

10 years ago I would have agreed, not anymore. Men have a right to defend themselves. It does not mean we have the right to hit first or use excessive force. The body slam was likely a bit much, he should have just hit her back. On the other hand she sucker punched him, and it was the heat of the moment. If you look at statistics, adjust the numbers of reported vs actual, remove the feminist ideologies, listen to what the cops are saying, women are equal to or worse with physical violence then men are. Men are simply stronger, cause more damage, are less likely to report, more likely to be charged.
