Justin Hall snagged this amazing photo during the @bostonmarathon. One of our all time favorites!

@cleans_letsrun I wonder how many more patients of “Dr Toi” are on Bracy’s old team… or are professional athletes in general…
English

Testosterone doctor in Bracy-Williams case pretended to be a fictional female medical professional called "Dr Toi".
Criminal case will be heard on 26 May.

@adamlipschitz @CTMarathon I’ll await until we know the weather better.

Final training session done.
@CTMarathon is on deck for Kamohelo’s debut.
Fit. Healthy. Ready.
English

@Habo_HB @CTMarathon No sir. Tebello is on rest post Boston. The race has a few pacers set up, but I generally tell my men to run their own efforts.
English

@charlesfogelman Poor kid had low iron but we’ve got that sorted!!
English

Kamohelo #Mofolo of #Lesotho has the national record in the road 10k and a sub-61 half marathon under his belt. His first marathon start was a DNF in Honolulu but he has podium potential in Cape Town next weekend (esp if favorites keep dropping out)

@alethea_sloane They do!
So if you can turn autolap off… manually lap your miles to the markers… you know the reality of your situation.
English

@McKirdyTrained i was smarter about tangents and water stops at the nyc half this year and still ran 13.35😭 sometimes at big city races the gps messes the signals up
English

@Brady_H Opportunity to run tangents, “group think” (people wanting or NEEDING to be shoulder to shoulder), and GPS accuracy - I’m sure it all played a role!
26.41 by the watch isn’t too rough, but there’s likely space to clean up tangent running in training to help you too!
English

@runnersworld Money is gone… @SowetoMarathon is toast and will never pay…
English

It’s been nearly six months since the Soweto Marathon took place in Soweto, South Africa last November. But the race’s top finishers—including winners Margaret Jepchumba of Kenya and Joseph Seutloali of Lesotho—still haven’t received the prize money they are owed.

@ward5kwinner I GENERALLY say this is fantastic tangent running.
One thing I didn’t address is GPS accuracy. So I try to focus on manually lapping every mile AND tangent running.
We had a tangent line for our event and GPS still added 0.1 miles for almost every mile.
English

@McKirdyTrained I ran 26.34 at my last marathon, which seems not bad compared to what I see a lot of people do, but the early part of the race made it noticeably hard to stick to the tangents
English

@DiTlamZ That's a warm up bar... not a competition bar.
They use this for warm ups so they dont have to keep replacing a bar during the ongoing warm up process.
English

@adamlipschitz I agree my friend. I never want to assume someone is ready too soon so I generally prescribe 2 weeks full rest... then a gentle build of easy for 3 weeks before I prescribe the first speed at week 6.
And even that is pretty simple and it's adjustable to the athlete.
English

A lot of elites come back to fast eager for the next marathon as all they know is running. They have no other value besides that.
Relax, take some days off, have a beer ‼️
adam lipschitz@adamlipschitz
Everyone laughs at me when I take 3 weeks off after my main marathons every year and when I take a week off after a heavy long run simulating the marathon. Even if you think you are fit and healthy, DO NOT force the training after a marathon. Rest You will get injured ‼️‼️‼️

Interesting factoid
17 countries are represented in the most recent @WorldAthletics men's Marathon Rankings list top 100.
The women have 18!

Berlin secures Sabastian Sawe ✅
Now get Yomif Kejelcha in for the rematch.
Though the sport’s obsessed with records, not every day will be a WR day and someone still has to win the race. Hope Sawe vs. Kejelcha becomes the defining rivalry of this new era.

@TimAdams76 Good weather… low dew points and 45 degrees with low to gentle winds…appropriate pacing without a 90s negative split…
We see 1:58:45.
Bad weather and we see 2:02:30+
The problem - who can pace half at 59:30 and not want to be in the race themselves?
English

Could another world record fall in the men’s marathon in September?
Sabastian Sawe, who became the first person to run a sub-two hour marathon in race conditions with 1:59:30 in London, will compete in Berlin (Sep 27).
From Paul Tergat in 2003 (2:04:55) to Eliud Kipchoge in 2022 (2:01:09), eight consecutive world records were set in Berlin.
English

@_OwenM_ The absolute best athletes won't often run this when appearance fees are high elsewhere.
They didn't skip because of a lack of organizing... they skipped to be paid.
