@joshm i'd love to be able to export/save a Dia artifact as a web app on my phone. created an itinerary for a trip and although PDF and image are nice share options, it'd be most useful as an icon on my home screen that allows me to tap through to links, etc.

the main thing i find myself re-learning with LLM-assisted coding is what is feasible. so many things that we can do now were [of course] possible before, but the time it would've taken made it not worth the effort. that gap narrows with every model + harness improvement

Android schedules it locally and if your phone is powered down or doesn’t have service it doesn’t send. i’m [obviously] not a spokesperson for Apple, and not disputing that they could theoretically switch to local scheduling for RCS/SMS. my understanding is: 1. it’s on the list, but there’s a very long list 2. they’ve lobbied the RCS standards committee (which is controlled by the carriers) so that they can support the better experience where you don’t have to worry about whether or not your message will send when you schedule it. i’m not here to defend Apple, just saying that the Android experience is not “well understood”, and Android users think that their message will be delivered as scheduled even though that’s not the case. the iMessage team seemingly made the call that they couldn’t deliver a great experience for RCS [yet] and deprioritized it.

@mclaughj There's still no technical reason Apple couldn't just detect that the recipient is a "green buble" and switch to local storage/scheduling. But they don't feel like it because that doesn't support their "walled garden" strategy. Still jerks.

You can "send later" w/ Apple Messages, but only to other iOS users... which makes no sense. It's not like the message is sent along w/ instructions to the recipient's app not to reveal it until the designated time. Apple just blocks the feature for funsies. Jerks.

@RyanTheJenks RCS is sent directly to the phone carrier, so Apple can’t send it on your behalf. iMessage is facilitated by Apple, not the carrier.

@mclaughj So Apple is holding it for send on their server but just don't feel like sending it if the recipient is on Android? Doesn't make it better.

Anthropic has some excellent designers, there are alot of nice touches in the new Claude app even if 99% of the functionality is "inspired" by Codex, Conductor, OpenCode, and others, the execution is quite good. looking forward to seeing what Codex 2.0 looks like 😅
