I was driving home last night, was fairly quiet and was jamming to some 90s music, and my youngest son Mason said to me: "Dad, I don't know if I tell you this enough but I'm so proud of you and that you are my Dad. You are literally the best Dad any kid could have." I paused for a minute because I didn't know how to respond but also to remember and enjoy this moment. Life is about family, family is about life. That's all that matters at the end.

This is the kind of projects that make you want to come back to it ASAP, just keep coding, this is life! I haven't feel this way about programming in a long time, I really missed this. I hope someday to build this so cool that someone finds it useful and pay for it.

Working on a side project is awesome because no one but you is saying what to do, when to do it's, what's the next step. I'm learning go in my pace: JSON, database, cli arguments, os calls, completely change several parts of the application ✅, will do it again. This is power!

It's easier when you leave behind your old ideas of how to structure your project. I still like Rust's compiler errors better than Go. I mean to be an easier language to learn, the compiler messages are way behind than Rust's in making you really know what's the error.

There are fewer Rust positions than Go ones. And in the last 5 weeks or so, I've picked up more my pace in learning (mind you I basically did nothing between October and January). I'm using go routines, channels, structs, interfaces, and just getting the vibe of Go.

Last year (in August) I started to learn Rust, what I like to do is pick a problem and make it a project, less than a month after I rewrote all the code to Go in order to prioritize learning this language over Rust. I want this learning to be a tool to get a better job.

Now I need to work on my delegation skills and talk more during meetings, I definitely didn't want that. Why can't I just be the quiet one in the corner?

My performance review just came in, and I'm exceeding expectations wow, this probes that impostor syndrome is very real. I'm getting the promotion it's not official yet, but I wouldn't believe my manager did a mistake by telling me this.

I know I'm supposed to think positive but, I believe I'm not getting a promotion this year either. Instead probably one of my colleagues is, he's been doing a great job consistently and he definitely deserves it. But I don't both of us will get it.
