The Artemis II mission reminds me of these 1960s photos of NASA astronauts training in Iceland because they felt the terrain would be similar to what they'd encounter on the moon. The outfits are so great, even some 60 years later.

@Lpa_Doc And also, inflammation of what, exactly? What about the case of high Lp(a) and low (or v. low) CRP?

@Drlipid Raising awareness is great. Keep it up. But what then? What do you recommend following testing? There is no treatment (outside a few drugs in trials). By all means lower LDL, but given that you emphasize Lp(a) as an independent risk factor...what?

Rather sad how far behind so many primary care and even cardiologists are behind with lipid education. Patients must be their own advocates and DEMAN these tests
Backyard Carl@claytooine

@Drlipid @_CynthiaThurlow Just had my wife order her ApoB and Lp(a) for the first time. Almost no primary care doc are requesting these for their patients in 2025. Big lag

@DrMarthaGulati But, what is the endpoint here? OK, you learn a number, but if it’s high (or very high)—what then? There is no treatment, or am I missing something?

@TheEconomist First, this graph is not adjusted for inflation. Second, the Biden administration set a record for deficit spending for the start of the government’s fiscal year. It will take some time to turn it all around.

The chance of asteroid 2024 YR4 hitting out planet in 2032 is now 1.5%, or 1 in 67. The OVERWHELMING likelihood is that the asteroid will miss Earth. But for the first time ever, we might have to seriously consider a deflection mission soon. Let me explain. 🧵 (1/x)

@helloiampoppy @Sovereign_Beast Wow…so much departure here. Just noting that the ‘b’ in your sample departs wildly from what the Palmer method teaches. In particular, ‘b’ in that standard does not have a loop.

@ajmoyer90 @Sovereign_Beast the elephant in the room here—is the actual purpose to maintain a link with documents over time, or to optimize the mind/paper link? if the latter, why not teach shorthand?

I'm particularly fond of how cursive is conducive towards establishing a flowing state of creative consciousness. When I am journaling or free writing the beauty of the script, the practice of skill in forming it consitently at a decent pace, and the induced state of mind, are all rewards enough in themselves to justify using it imho. As it's taught in American public school is complete garbage though, caught up in asinine rigid formalism instead of the pure expressive joy inherent in the spirit of it.

@tosinCanada @CMichaelGibson Let me throw mine into the hopper—540 nmol/L. And to someone else’s point, the totality of the treatment was the test itself. I happened to know that I well tolerate niacin, so I take that (along with rosuvastatin and ezetimibe).

Did you know that 20% of Americans have a genetic risk factor for heart disease that is not modified by diet or exercise? It's called Lp(a). I have a family history and mine is elevated. You should consider getting yours checked too. #LpaAwarenessDay

Of all companies, @WSJ embraces the shoddy business practice of “you must call a human on the telephone to cancel a subscription.” Really? I would have expected better. Do such user-hostile practices really help the bottom line? At what cost in goodwill?

It is not enough to know something. You also have to be able to access it or at least have it come to mind when it is time to use that knowledge. Books that help us remember truths or prompt us to use those truths are underrated.

Just corrected a bit of the program for pronunciation: the word clandestine. On the air, I said it two ways: "CLAN-duh-stine," then "CLAN-duh-steen." Then was informed of a network preference for a third way, clan-DES-tin. Like destiny.
