@mcweldski @NASASpox there's a few other words I could use, but yes.
English

Because he was asked. Unsurprisingly, you weren’t!
Unlike you, he’s got a long list of qualifications that make him exactly the right person to speak on the intersection of space and national security:
- founder of a military aerospace company
- commercial astronaut
- first civilian to spacewalk
- NASA Administrator
Thank you for your interest in America’s space program.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar
lmao why is the NASA administrator going on Fox and railing against Iran? (this is a rhetorical question -- the answer is that nobody in the Trump administration has actual job duties)
English

I was kind of hoping for a compelling argument, not a CNN link. That's like linking to a parody outfit.
I also have yet to see any indication of deception on dead or wounded either? Like making vague clams because you're mad at orange man or whatever, that's an emotional thing; and random bits of unverifiable information that reinforce your emotion are probably very validating to believe - but I'm looking for some actual, verifiable hard evidence of intentional deception and misleading claims by CENTCOM.
English

@mcweldski @rocketeer006 @sentdefender Um this to start? How about reporting actual dead and injured?
Not to mention lying about Iranian launchers and missiles etc
edition.cnn.com/world/live-new…
English

@NASASpox girl you were put in your position by a disgusting war criminal. why are you boasting about that? NASA really is taking a nosedive
English

@kscool @rocketeer006 @sentdefender What have they lied about exactly? Aside from Iranian aligned propaganda on this platform, I've yet to see any indication of deception, though more than willing to have my eyes opened if solid evidence exists.
(Obviously the government lies, I just haven't seen evidence here)
English

@rocketeer006 @sentdefender Do you believe CENTCOM and this admin ?? They have literally lied about everything so far
English

Cute approach, dismiss relevant foundational issues (thermodynamic aspect important to understand why, absent auto start/stop scenario, engine startup is the most wear-intensive regime of engine operation) as fluff - indicative that you are not only out of your depth intellectually; but forming your defensiveness around freshman year framework, emotional investment, and poor objective reasoning.
If you cannot comprehend the general layout of a neutral, technical explanation, I cannot help you to further understand the technical relevance of the base premise.
If I had anything to offer, it'd simply be: take a break, breathe, and recognize that no matter how intelligent you think, or perceive yourself to be - either through low competition in your demographic/locale or by way of excessive parental/professor praise - you will always and invariably encounter someone more intelligent, prepared, intrinsically understanding, and practically capable in terms of first-principle comprehension. Especially on the internet.
Check your insecurity and pride, learn from those in the shadows that objectively outclass you, and refrain from emotionally attaching yourself to arguments and perceptions that, by way of their very conception, are themselves born from emotionally compromised misunderstandings of neutral and sterile realities.
Stay humble and grow, collect the strengths of others, and shed attachment to preconceived assumptions. That'll do a lot more for you than wading beyond your depth in technical realities that are established, objectively, beyond the realistic point of argument.
Bonus tip, citing sources isn't a very compelling tool. Even academic papers or recognized authorities, often proclaim concepts with difinitive clarity, while ignoring subtle facts that fail to align with driving narrative. Support yourself with logic and repeatably applicable concepts of application. The word of others is irrelevant without you, yourself, fully comprehending the reasoning used by a third party's conclusion.
Best of luck, and if it makes you feel any better, since you clearly appreciate a excessive wear of unlubricated components like the wafer barrel in your ignition switch - take solice in knowing that - no matter the availability of auto stop/start by gov overreaching mandate - you are *always* free to start or stop your engine, manually, at will.
English

So the whole materials expand/contract part was just… decorative?
Because that was your opener, and you completely glossed over my point: 10–20 seconds doesn’t create a meaningful temperature gradient in the engine.
But fine, let’s talk transients, modern systems are designed around that, and if you’re claiming net harm > fuel saved, show numbers.
I'll wait
English

No, it is based primarily on transient conditions like incomplete combustion, cessation of oil flow/pressure, and starter-engagenent wear/tear over time.
I often place my least relevant, but foundationally important counterpoints first - to identify midwit emotional-argumentatives that jump the gun of patience to reply defensively.
In this case, my method clearly checks out.
English

Assuming you're genuinely clueless here - engines are a mechanism for converting chemical energy, by way of exothermic reaction and pressure differential, to kinetic energy. As such, they experience a wide range of temperature internally, from cold-start to operation.
Three main issues are at play:
1. Materials (aluminum alloys, steel, doped cast iron, etc) used to build engines to fairly exacting tolerances, expand and contract depending on their temperature. When machined at the factory, these tolerances are typically set to consider "operational temperature;" as an engine typically worked more of its life "running" vs "starting."
2. In combination with #1, lubricants specified for engines are also chosen by a combination of factors; but largely rely on a specific viscosity (and interdependently, flow rate) at a particular *operating* temperature. In a well-desigjed engine, there is little to no metal-on-metal contact during run state, as mechanically driven (as in, operationally only while running) oil pumps circulate lubricant at an appropriate pressure to facilitate this. The greatest mechanical wear, or metal/metal contact experienced by an engine, is at startup, before oil pressure/flow is fully established.
3. "Running" and "not running" conditions are wholely dissimilar; but just as different as "transient" conditions. During startup (cold, or auto-start), the fuel-air ratio is *never* ideal. The first power cycle to successfully ignite and join the starter motor in adding rotational inertia to the crankshaft, is typically very fuel-rich. This results in incomplete combustion, and over time - significantly adds to otherwise minimal carbon deposit rates upon the exhaust valves and heads themselves.
Bonus points for understanding the starter drive interface is unlubricated, and any/all interaction with the gearing used to initiate crank rotation, is abrasive and has finite life.
Auto-stop/start is incomparable with the mechanical properties and thermodynamic nature of how ICE engines operate.
AAA is a cute little group, they like cars. But they are not manufacturers, engineers, or metallurgical experts. Yes, in many cases, cumulative damage may take many years to present; and be mistaken as "high mileage, normal problems." In that case, it's difficult to appreciate for what it's worth. But I'm a country where it's not uncommon to daily-drive a vehicle for 10-15 years beyond its date of manufacture - the cost of wear far outweighs any fuel savings.
Just my 2¢
English

@NorthTXKate @WhiteHouse Bad for engine? Wut?
Battery I get. But engine?
English

@Wikhalifakush42 @donwinslow Unlikely - contrary to narrowmind views of dictatorship reflecting specifically the acts of *socialist* dictators.
One can enslave and essentially disregard constitutional freedoms/rights while selectively withholding the abolishment of *every* facet thereof
English

@mcweldski @donwinslow If it was you’d be in jail for posting this comment
English

@JonStee32383619 @donwinslow Crime as defined by who, government? Or by the people a specific crime directly impacted?
English

@Politicalparm @DeTocqueville14 @Simon_Cleret Who? What?
I fuck up a lot, what'd I fuck up this time?
English

@DeTocqueville14 @Simon_Cleret You guys fucked up now you can all die

Why when I finally cut filter and speak freely - do the real ones appear in my feed?
Appreciate you wholeheartedly - just damn - where's the conjuncture point for the rest of us? When do we admit our team blows and the game is rigged - start from principled core and learn from lessons of failed best-effort to reset the clock?
Hopeless as I've felt lately; I have such respect and appreciation for you; and those I've encountered (x algo, maybe? Thank you if so) expressing similar sentiment.
A collective in despair is *still* a brotherhood in something, at least - that has a chance of catching fire and awakening those that sleep on present realities, feed on/fear for loss of instant gratification sources, and otherwise unwittingly advance the neutering of liberty through sheepish acceptance of slavery in exchange for societal alignment and non-confrontationalism.
If the also is changing, I only hope that posts and comments challenging the partisan circus narrative will penetrate the feed of far more otherwise capable and intelligent folk - we're due for a meaningful shift of tide.
Carry on and hold pride in the honor of free thought and expression - my respect is yours.
English

Rare
Give this person a raise and an entire business
Weldy_McWeldski@mcweldski
Damned if, damned if not. We're fuckin cooked at this point - I hardly have constructive views or opinions anymore - it's the ultimate feeling of being lost and irrelevant at this point. But hey, drop by for coffee or a beer any time yo; all we have is each other and those with memory or attention span to comprehend the full encompassment of our hopeless spiral.
English

@BannedNotice @DeTocqueville14 @AlaynLowel35231 Where did I vote or check the box to contribute to, or have these services provided for me?
English

@DeTocqueville14 @AlaynLowel35231 Are you this retarded or just being a troll. If you take out a book from a public library, or use the streets, or use the fire department, police department, parks, you are getting something for your money. lol smh
English

Holy shit he's a fed. Or retarded.
I wish there was a crayon font here... Listen kid; taxes are what they are - good/bad, legal/illegal - whatever. Still - you're taxed when you make money. That's called "income tax," okay?
You're taxed when you spend money. That's called "sales tax," right?
But then, shit. That car you just paid sales tax on, from that money you were taxed on for making? Son, you gotta pay for registration now too - those plates ain't gonna be valid on their own...
Literally, you sound like a cuck for being pillaged
English

@DeTocqueville14 @AlaynLowel35231 No I'm not literally asking for my rulers to steal from me. Maybe stop being such a weirdo. When you use the resources that your town taxes for, then they are public and it is not stealing from anyone, lol literally grow up.
English

@RepJeffries Oh fuck off retard - we're sick of you idiots and the *other* side's morons too. Epstein files - then slash federal payroll by 90%. Nothing else is remotely acceptable
English

Buddy. Come on. As a conservative in spirit, libertarian in soul - you have to recognize the same game being played even with a friendly mask.
Do I agree with a lot of this admin's promises? Sure, yes. Di I think constitutional guarantees are worth sacrificing in the process?
Fuck no, and neither should you. There's a way to do these things - and there's ways to also do then - but illegally while eroding important precedent that ultimately stands to enforce and shield you and I from even debating these realities.
English

@DeTocqueville14 @AlaynLowel35231 There you go repeating again, you have nothing new to offer. You are a clueless anarchist and you are blind to the fact that Democrats are literal terrorists but you think Republicans are the same coin. That sounds more like a cult. Or at least denying reality.
English

Holy fucking shit, it's like no one gives a fuck and you're so far off-base from the *actual* concerns of Americans, you're beyond parody at this point.
Fuck you, fuck federal overreach, fuck anything that even hintsbeyond your constitutional, bare-bones role as scrutinized through the lense most favorable to personal privacy, freedom, and liberty.
Literally contemplating following your degenerate fuckery factory-account for the lulz at this point, you disconnected high-horse worthless twat
English

Ew fuckin what? Get out - true liberty is fully irrelevant to personal views on "attractiveness" regarding personal mutilation.
Take whatever drugs you want, add or cut off whatever you want - it's your body and your right - but fuck the hell off if you think for a second that anyone around you has a moral or social obligation to bypass logic and embrace/reinforce the delusions of an unwell human for the benefit of said subject's fantasy.
English

@AgoristN I’m worried people like you won’t make a stand and admit trans people are just as attractive as CIS. Please make a statement to prove me wrong.
English

Damned if, damned if not. We're fuckin cooked at this point - I hardly have constructive views or opinions anymore - it's the ultimate feeling of being lost and irrelevant at this point.
But hey, drop by for coffee or a beer any time yo; all we have is each other and those with memory or attention span to comprehend the full encompassment of our hopeless spiral.
English

@AgoristN It is practically a distraction made to feel like not a distraction
