Fun fact: Sarafina's character was actually based on Winnie Madikizela Mandela. Sarafina isn't about the 76 uprising, but the '85 state of emergency. The filmmakers knew they wouldn't get away with it if they made Sarafina an adult. So they made her a radical high school who could chant "free mandela", get arrested, tortured and still make it out alive...thats because THAT was Winnie's REALITY. Infact Sarafina was brainstormed in mam'Winnie's kitchen.

#Wanted Lephalale police are requesting public assistance in tracing a 37-year-old female, Cynthia Kgwete believed to be able to assist in solving a fraud case. It is alleged that on Monday, 02 February 2026, Nedbank opened a fraud case at Lephalale police station for investigation. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly posed as a client and applied for vehicle finance to purchase a Ford Ranger Double Cab. During the application process, the suspect submitted a false documentation and further misrepresented her employment and income details to secure approval from the bank. The application was approved, and the bakkie was released to the suspect. It was also later discovered that a tracking device fitted to the vehicle was removed shortly after it left the dealership. No instalments were paid to the bank and upon further investigation, the bank discovered it had been defrauded by the 37-year-old and reported the matter to the police. A case of fraud was registered, and investigations revealed that the suspect provided a false working address and residential address in Gauteng Province. A warrant of arrest was issued and police are appealing to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect as appearing on the photo, to urgently contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Simon Tjatjie Kekana on 078 472 0505, Crime Stop number 08600 10111, nearest police station or may share information on MySAPS App. Police investigations are continuing.

I have been impressed by this young South African Advocate's approach to this case. He has got a great future in the profession. His decision to seek a plea bargain with the state was well judged. The sentences he achieved for both could reasonably be considered to be lenient given the seriousness of the charges. He avoided the pitfalls & drama, including potential contradictions in evidence between the two accused persons. He recognised early on what the weaknesses & conflicts of interest in the cases were. Both accused were in SA unlawfully. It's reasonably likely that they were under the influence of drugs. They are both related, (presenting potential conflicts in presenting best case defences for both), and weapon / gun was missing, in a situation where its discharge was not in doubt, as well as the existence of a victim. All these were loose ends which needed to be resolved with a high degree of competency. He knew when to address the media & when not to. When he did, he was professional, articulate & temperate. He handled the complex plea bargaining process with strategic clarity & patience. He recognised that the prospects of success in applying for bail were poor early on & ditched that option. That wouldn't have been easy given the immense pressure he would have been under to do so from the accused & their family members. That is an underrated skill in its own right, balancing complex & competing demands from clients without losing their confidence while remaining focused on the outcome. Whilst the circumstances are totally different, I would invite readers to compare & contrast this approach to the one taken in @Julius_S_Malema's case. Sometimes cases turn on the approach taken by an Advocate! This young one defo excelled! Give him his flowers!

I am so surprised by this response. ANC has not asked anyone to resign. The NEC has invoked rule 25.17.14 of the ANC constitution which affirms as an act of misconduct to canvass for any other candidate other than that endorsed by the ANC. Obviously should members not wish to declare who they will be canvassing for, it will be assumed they will be acting in alignment with the ANC constitution. Should they be found to be engaged in activities which go against the letter and spirit of the above constitutional principle then the prescribed consequences on dealing with misconduct will follow.
Kaya News@KayaNews

"No Comrade shall submit to ultimatums" - SACP Secretary-General Solly Mapaila urges members to remain calm and refrain from submitting resignations, following the ANC's ultimatum. The ANC has given dual members ten days to declare which group they will support in the upcoming election. KJ #KayaNews

There is, for all intents and purposes, only 2 “white” parties in Parliament, and together they command a royal 23% of the vote. Three of the largest “black” parties constitute a 2/3 majority. Yet, somehow, we have still been getting policy that is largely “anti-black” for at least the last 15 years. The problem isn’t who black people are voting for. It’s what policies are being passed by the parties the black people support, whose interests these policies serve, and how black people are insufficiently organised to exert their will on the parties to ensure the policies serve their interests. 🫶🏾🇿🇦

Bantu abantsundu, we need to have an honest conversation about the divided black vote. We have the power as majority, they are scattering us intentionally.
