@kristenmeinzer my mom decided to go grey for similar reasons--she uses a silver shampoo to make it look really shiny and not brassy.

@kristenmeinzer I heard this a TON when we were planning our vegetarian wedding that we paid for entirely on our own and requested no gifts but specified 4 charities to donate to. People were peeved because "Tradition" but the day after my wedding i didnt have any resentment!

A friend & I were talking last night about how people often say - with regard to weddings - "you must! it's tradition" when what they really mean is "this is how it's been done since the invention of consumer culture & rise of heteronormative white suburbia after WWII."
