Yesterday, I signed onto @rosadelauro's discharge petition to force a vote to end the DHS shutdown—without giving one cent to Trump's mass deportation operation. This fight is about making our immigration system humane again—and the Trump Administration should not hold TSA and other agencies hostage without pay. I hope my friends across the aisle join us in this commonsense step towards sanity.

The killing of Sheridan Gorman, a young Loyola student, in Rogers Park last night is a horrifying tragedy. I join her friends and family, the Rogers Park community, and the entire Loyola student body in grieving this devastating loss. I hope that the perpetrator is swiftly detained and brought to justice.

Today, I join my colleagues @RepCasten and @RepMikeLevin in introducing the Energy Bills Relief Act: a major legislative package to address rising energy costs. With electricity bills increasing as much as 13% under the Trump administration, America needs a new approach to energy — one that puts people over profits. This approach also includes my SITE Act, which will give FERC the authority to build interstate transmission lines, improving electricity accessibility and reliability.

The American taxpayer has already given ICE and CBP more than enough money—and they've used it to harass, kidnap, and kill innocents.   @rosadelauro’s bill will fund ALL PARTS of DHS, including TSA, without allowing ICE and CBP to continue their exploitation.
