@BlackDumpling The "evil mirror" twist was lazy and dumb. I was enjoying Isaacs playing it early on that Lorca was plausibly just an abrasive "no-nonsense, just do the job" kind of captain that we'd rarely seen before. That was more interesting to me than MUHAHA *moustache twirl.*

STAR TREK: The great tragedy of Discovery is knowing that this single character could've carried the entire show through several seasons at least. If he were an "evil" Picard but extraordinarily sly about it, where the audience knew he was a malevolent actor but the crew being wholly unawares. And that going on for years as we watch his schemes unfold and see that he's both ruthlessly competent but fiercely devoted to humanity. A kind of In the Pale Moonlight as a series long arc. It'd be difficult to pull off and it's clear none of the Discovery writers had the chops... but I'm telling you a seed was there.

Opening Day tomorrow. Skenes v. Peralta. Just wondering when @OptimumHelp and @SNPittsburgh are going to get their act together so I can watch SNP360 through my existing cable subscription.

@improbablyyou @BradRTorgersen She tells a story about how TPTB wanted Troi to have some kind of accent but it couldn't be Marina's natural British one because of Sir Pat. To which she objected that didn't make sense because Picard was French. Could easily be apocryphal/embellished by Marina but still funny.

@BradRTorgersen That accent was horrible. I was shocked when I heard her real-elegant voice in an interview and I thought WHY ARENT YOU USING THAT VOICE. Terrible artistic choice. Also her character told you what you already knew.

Supposedly Sirtis disliked getting so much explicitly hetero male attention for her character. She'd originally wanted (and been cast for) Tasha Yar (aka: "Macha Hernandez.") She kept the ersatz accent, but segued to the Counselor Troi roll. Whose debut absolutely stole my 13 year old heart. I am sorry, Marina. It's just facts. 😍🖖

@GoldAndBlueZone The former. That this motley crew roster got to 17 wins and bubble talk at all is kind of impressive. If this is Ross's floor, not bad at all. Cautiously optimistic.

Kind of a weird spot to be in as a WVU basketball fan. I don't know whether to be more impressed that they were ever on the bubble with this roster and a young unproven coach, or to be more worried that every time they were in the conversation they played their worst basketball.
