So I've been thinking. (I know, I know.) Should I do a #CRPS thread? Cases are on the rise due to shit pain control, and I've found that doctors are really worthless on giving out data on any diagnosis really. What it is, how they think it works, so on?

When I was in residency a coworker came to work with very mild cold symptoms (just like 8 million other physicians have done) Turns out it was RSV. Two babies in the NICU got it and one ended up on ECMO. What causes sniffles in an adult can be deadly in little ones.

I drop everything when called for a frozen and dash to the hospital and have had to wait more than 3 hours with the patient not even in the or yet. What’s even worse are the times I’m called in and the surgery is cancelled but no one bothers to inform the pathologist!

@MurderMcLassie @DrLongissimus Why did you tell her 20 minutes if you really meant 60? Sounds like you are okay with her waiting on you, but you don’t want to have to wait on her, so you inconvenience her to ensure it doesn’t happen. Why not just be honest about the timing?

Shutout to my pathologist buddy who got woken up by his pager only twice in residency. First time he was paged by mistake, second time the pager rang because it had low battery.

I read the Slate article about Colleen Hoover (and would've been perfectly happy to have not done so . . . ). Just as an FYI, I have never read a Colleen Hoover book and am not likely to.

I also had to chuckle about the part about trauma porn because I'm fairly certain that most "literary" works that I have read were full of trauma. Especially the endings.

@courtneymilan One time in college I ended up with a couple hundred dollars in overdraft fees because Chilis gave me a paycheck to deposit that they had cancelled. I was robbed twice - once by Chilis and once by the bank. Haven't been to a Chilis since.

@jbcarmody I regarded my internal medicine and family medicine rotations as my worst experiences third year. Frankly I hated both. Choosing against those specialties had NOTHING to do with money. Maybe that aspect should be addressed as well.

@AshleyGWinter And who decides what is an interesting hobby? I sew clothes but that is a traditionally female pursuit that many people don’t consider “interesting”.

I have never had any interesting hobbies & I hate the emphasis on this. We want to train kind, decent, well informed doctors, NOT lifestyle bloggers.
