Twitter was pretty much my only social media (other than that *all* media are social). Feel like I'm done here. ✌️🙏👏

The front of the queue for the NSL47 sentencing. These people, all dressed in black, have been dubbed the “queuing gang”, allegedly paid to take up the few public seats available in court. All refused to answer my questions on why they’re there

Big Wave Bay. A beautiful Hong Kong beach with great surf at this time of year Who are the people who sit in committees and propose these regulations. What possible motivations drive them to make these insane laws which inhibit physical activity and damage population health.

Apparently, graduate students in HK think that officials can demand nudes... Hard to believe, but I guess?

A growing movement seeks to destigmatize going “no contact” with one’s relatives. Is it a much-needed corrective, or a worrisome change in family relations? nyer.cm/Ou5LYOn

@AskYatharth Plus ballot order effects: the top candidate gets a measurable small bump. Different places handle differently (random, or random by county, etc.). At that time Republican always went first on FL ballots and always got the bump (small but much larger than the win).

i'd vaguely heard about the US election in 2000 actually being "stolen" and i looked it up and it seems consensus is - the entire US election came down to florida - the difference in votes was <0.1%, not statistically significant - polling machine had hardware issues way higher than <0.1% - florida could have decided to actually and properly hand count the votes - the state's highest supreme court decided to do that - bush asked the supreme court to intervene in a state's free & independent ability to run its own elections - the voting was exactly on partisan lines: the 5 republican judges declared bush the winner - they cited reasoning that competes for one of the most transparently dishonest rulings of all time - the single most comprehensive study after the fact found that if the votes had been properly counted, gore would have won - this is not factoring in a calculated, well-documented attempt by republican governor of florida to suppress thousands of votes, in black counties for al gore, by the official US election commission

@tripperhead We had a "misdo" in our neighbourhood when we lived in Japan, and there was always a morning group of old uncles (oji-san there) hanging out and solving the problems of the world, one donut and coffee at a time. Good memories! Let's see how they fare in HK.

🇭🇰🇯🇵🍩 Japanese donut chain Mister Donut opened their first store in Hong Kong on Saturday. The new outlet is located in the K11 Artmall, and as always, attracted huge queues on opening day. 📽️ thehkobserver on Instagram

Herbie Hancock group was great, but West Kowloon production team 👎👎 Bass amp not in the house sound for most of the night, cameras typically 30 seconds behind the action, band next door at the fest too loud... hope they learn.

Our trombonist Vincent Gardner, on the bus from Shenzen to Hong Kong composing the 2nd movement of my “Bebopera”, to be premiered on next month’s Bebop Revolution show at @jazzdotorg . This one pays tribute to the three island prophets that taught Dizzy about Afro-Latin music, Alberto Socarras, Mario Bauza, and Chano Pozo. The amazing vocalist Ashley Pezotti will be telling the story.
