My review of PROJECT HAIL MARY — not only is this the best film made so far this year, the bar is high on films for the rest of the year to clear it. Compelling, captivating, and compassionate as a man named Grace risks his own life to save mankind from destroying itself (I see what you did there). Nothing even remotely Woke, and I don’t remember a single profanity nor anything crass despite the pressure-packed circumstances — yet the movie is not cheesy or naive in any way. Ryan Gosling gives a magnum opus performance. Rocky is a new generation’s ET. This movie and its deserved smashing success shows Hollywood has been without excuse these recent years of self-inflicted degradation and existential fiduciary harm. It could’ve been telling these stories all along, it just didn’t want to.

Don’t wait until Easter to worship the risen Savior. The tomb has been empty for nearly 2,000 years. He is worthy of our worship every day.

New research indicates that fathers build bonds best with their children (and craft secure attachment in them) by "destablizing the child" in a "safe environment. Fathers in the study had a unique ability to make their children laugh and therefore create more perceived safety for the child which led to stronger attachment. Mothers made children feel safe too, usually with repetition and soothing, but the laughing and playing did not make the children as attached as it did when fathers performed it. Several things jump out from this at me: First, a father who is relaxed enough to laugh and play indicates a safe environment. Fathers are biologically the providers of safety, so if dad is relaxed, the world must truly be safe. Children may be picking up on this. Second, being worthy of a father's time and attention is a huge marker for kids. A father's attention may actually mean more in many cases, as we've seen in other studies. The bond with mom is equally as important, but sometimes the bond with mom is taken for granted, where the bond with dad is taken as remarkable due to perceived other demands on his time. What this means: Dads, you've got to be playing with your kids. As silly and disruptive as possible. They need this from you. It's one of the strongest ways they can bond to you. In Colorado, you can rape a child and get probation instead of prison. A bill to change that just failed — for the third year in a row. Four Democrats voted it down. 4 to 3. For the third consecutive year, Colorado lawmakers have killed a bill that would have required prison time for convicted child rapists. Senate Bill 26-111, titled "Protections Against Child Rape," was voted down 4-3 on a party-line vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 18, 2026. The four Democrats who blocked it: Adrienne Benavidez, Nick Hinrichsen, Katie Wallace, and Mike Weissman. Under current Colorado law, a person convicted of sexually assaulting a child can be sentenced to probation instead of prison. The bill would have eliminated that option for certain Class 3 and Class 4 felony child sexual assault cases. It was sponsored by Republican Senator Janice Rich, with bipartisan House support from Republican Brandi Bradley and Democrat Regina English. Bradley said on record: "In our state, in Colorado, you can rape multiple children as long as it's only one time and receive probation." The same type of bill was killed in 2024 (8-3) and 2025 (6-5). This was the narrowest version yet — and it still failed. One of the four lawmakers who voted against it, Senator Hinrichsen, is also the lead sponsor of a bill to decriminalize prostitution in Colorado. Both bills went through the same committee.
