@RazorwireRPG I don't think it's fair to call the dungeon crawling in 3 and 4 dumb, they serve a valid purpose in the core gameplay. The main problem with their dungeons is the lack of environmental storytelling and how they fit into worldbuilding.

As an everyday New Vegas glazer, I agree that the dungeons are pretty haphazard and lore focused. Again, that comes down to dueling design philosophies between these studios. If I had to choose between a fun (but dumb) shooting gallery, and a brilliantly designed narrative space with sub-par action gameplay, we all know which way I would go. But, I do think it's fair to criticise New Vegas on this, because you do want your play spaces to be fun to move through. I've never been much of a stealth player, but I love dialogue choices and heaps of lore so I guess my perspective is coloured on design approach in this regard. I will always choose a Vault 11 over a Vault 108, however (I am a notorious Gary hater).
