This is insane. A New York City police officer conducted a drug bust on a known criminal. The criminal tried to flee the scene on a scooter, so the officer deployed a non-lethal weapon (threw a cooler at him) in an honest attempt to stop the suspect. The suspect died, which is unfortunate, but now the officer has been sentenced to 3-9 years in prison. That alone would be ridiculous. The judge took it a step further and explicitly said the aggressive sentence was meant to be a deterrent to other police officers. For what? For stopping criminals from committing crimes? The hardworking men and women of the NYPD deserve better than this. They risk their lives every day to protect innocent citizens from drugs and violent criminals. Activist judges who abuse their position of power over politics should be removed from office as well.

In 1998, Abu Hamza sent a group of terrorists (including his son) to blow up the British consulate in Yemen. They were caught. During their trial, others amongst Hamza’s thugs kidnapped foreigners in an attempt to bargain for their release. Hamza was eventually convicted in the USA of, inter alia, ordering that kidnapping - during which four of the hostages (including three Brits) were killed. Separately, amongst the gang convicted of the attempt to blow up the consulate alongside Hamza’s son was Shahid Butt. Shahid Butt is now a candidate for council in Birmingham Sparkhill in May’s local elections. This is where our suicidal empathy brings us. Someone convicted of explicitly targeting this country’s diplomatic mission for destruction is a political candidate in… this country, today.

Today we had ministerial questions on Chagos. I challenged those trying to dress up the decision as anti-colonial liberation - especially when Chagossians themselves have been ignored and their aspirations for self determination treated with contempt.

🇺🇦🇺🇸 Zelensky: I told our American partners that they can tell if Putin wants peace by answering these questions. First, try to arrange a meeting at the leadership level to discuss territories. Putin refused. Second, if he does not want to continue the aggression after the ceasefire, offer to deploy American and European troops along the contact line. Putin’s answer was, “No, no foreign troops.” Why? That can only mean that he wants to move on. Third, he has about 17 million square kilometers of territory. Yet he tells the Americans, “Look, what’s the problem? It’s only 6,000 square kilometers.” Can you imagine someone who has millions of square kilometers, 70% of which is underdeveloped and has no proper infrastructure, asking for more? Do we really believe that all he needs is an additional 5,800 square kilometers? That is not his goal. Donbas is a strategic place in Ukraine. Once he gets our industrial cities and fortifications in that region, all that will be left is open fields and direct roads to our regional centers. I mean, we understand why he wants Donbas.

David Aaronovitch claims that no one likes Keir Starmer. That may be the case amongst the media hacks. I say with some confidence that he IS liked by many thousands of we ordinary folk. I think he’s done us proud through some serious crises. VOTE LABOUR 🌹

The frustration of the squeezed middle is palpably rising and the risk of blunt UC cut offs for support whether for day trips, energy bills or pension credit for winter fuel allowance is that you actually end up undermining support for social democratic principles.

I find this language so revealing. The Iranian regime has helped to utterly destabilise Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Gaza and Yemen over the last 2 decades. Israel has faced tens of thousands of rockets and missiles fired at it, by Iranian proxies in that time. The world did nothing.

NOW: Hamas supporters are chasing senior British military ppl down the streets of London and screeching “Baby butchers” at them. Police only just manage to stop them before our own military ppl are attacked. This is SCARY.
