Yesterday, the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for @meaca_ug, Rt. Hon. @RebeccaKadagaUG, chaired a high level preparatory meeting of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) at the MEACA Boardroom in Kampala. The session was held in advance of the Extra Ordinary Meeting of the @jumuiya Council of Ministers, scheduled for 2nd–5th March 2026 in Arusha, Tanzania . The meeting brought together ministers and permanent secretaries from key government institutions, ensuring Uganda’s delegation is well coordinated before the regional gathering. The Ministry of East African Community Affairs was fully represented, with its technical officers led by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Edith Mwanje actively contributing to the discussions. Such preparatory meetings are crucial because they: •Align national positions by harmonizing Uganda’s views before presenting them at the regional level. •Ensure efficiency by resolving internal differences early, enabling the delegation to speak with one voice in Arusha. •Strengthen accountability as technical officers and ministers review past commitments and prepare updates for the Council. •Enhance Uganda’s influence by ensuring the country’s priorities are clearly articulated during negotiations. The Extraordinary Council of Ministers in Arusha will run in three sessions: Senior Officials (2nd–3rd March), the Coordination Committee (4th March), and the Council of Ministers (5th March). These sessions will lay the groundwork for the 25th Summit of EAC Heads of State, slated for 7th March 2026. By chairing the Kampala preparatory session, Rt. Hon. Kadaga reaffirmed Uganda’s meaca.go.ug/rt-hon-rebecca… 📸 @RealBishopsam
