@Timdaw Fair appraisal. I probably visit The Ashmolean more times in a year, than Stonehenge in a decade (even though I'm in Wiltshire about 5 times more than Oxfordshire). If with friends and they view the Stonehenge prices 'How much!' war cry comes out. (I used to be a member of EH)

@YorkshireLady3 @Dis_PPL_Protest Yes this, I have a diagnosis of MND and when I had a cognitive assessment to assess for frontotemporal dementia - severe depression / GAD was noted (because having a progressive terminal illness Dx is unsurprisingly depressing).

So, as usual, there is no detailed information about how symptomotology/diagnoses will be assessed and by whom. Don't forget that the 'people get thousands a year from PIP because of tennis elbow crowd' are not told that someone who is terminally ill but has tennis elbow will be entered into the Government's 'conditions that attract PIP' list multiple times. It's a con to vilify the chronically sick and vulnerable. Best wishes from the Vale of York 🇬🇧

#DisabledPeopleAgainstFascism Repost of what Reform UK plan to do with PIP if elected to government •stopping PIP for 80-90% of claimants with depression and/or anxiety, instead these claimants will be put on a fast track to work, involving talking therapy,

@Seafoam_Dream I'd a few folk recomend it, as I was trying to get to places I enjoy for walking (whilst I arguably still could), but was cynical from their descriptions of 'how it helped the guy in the book' - whilst mounting at the time a formal challenge to my own terminal neurodegen illness

@meadowcopse I read it when it came out. I can’t remember exactly what I thought at the time other than it seemed a bit too good to be true & maybe he’d been misdiagnosed. But I also enjoyed the descriptions of the walks, & thought no more about it until now.

I'd normally be reserved about homing in on someone with a serious illness Dx. The exposé series regarding 'The Salt Path' in The Observer / BBC Radio, is well worth a listen for anyone cynical of the 'story' and living with neurodegenerative illness. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…

@Dmdav1 Covid anti-vax is a polarising over simplification. Disruptive on complex health threads) Elon and the algorithm make Twitter / X less relevant (and less of a community, if you had a well curated feed and follows). People don't seem to do nuance in online exchanges.

Have people got more nasty and intolerant to others since Covid or just on this platform since Elon took over ?

@Seafoam_Dream I've been listening to all the 8 episodes over the last week. A few folk had recommended the book last year, just as scandal was hinted. I've followed the Observer commentry and it highlighted 'gaps' I felt whilst reading the book late last year. I didn't find it 'inspirational'

To present an open ended 'escape' would be disengenuous. To present 'dodging a bullet' would be distasteful. To present the day to day challenges would be depressing. It would however have to be honest, helpful, meaningful.

But it would have to highlight the bureacratic pitfalls - the disconnect between patchy regional care and research, trying to hang on to a driving licence, work & finance, Doctors that gaslight or ignore notes, public attitudes to long-term illness and 'not looking disabled'.

@chloehadj @ObserverUK As someone diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, that has become 'atypical' / possible misdiagnosis - I'd normally be reserved about homing in on someone else's serious Dx. This exposé of The Salt Path highlights and raises so many questions about how damaging the book could be.

@RITB_ 4 page non-apology from a hospital CEO and "lessons will be learned" after I complained... Not sure how they will learn anything, my future appointments were pulled after I went for a 2nd opinion at a hospital in a different ICB and they wrote back with different results.

Recovery in the Bin
It is sad that when pts question something the immediate response can be "you can make a complaint", which is adversarial when the pt simply wants a clarification, an answer.
