Just pointless language pedantry really. Everyone understands that when we say 'the north,' we mean 'the north of england,' the regional term is as much a cultural/economic descriptor as it is anything to do with geography. When we are talking about Scotland, we'll say Scotland.

I think the reason people get so offended whenever vegans compare the way we treat animals to other issues is because they already don’t take animal abuse seriously so when you compare it to something they do care about they see it as you saying their cause is just as irrelevant.
