When you spring ahead this weekend- check alarms too. Replace batteries, and time for a new detector if > 10 years old (if white devices have turned brown with age - check the date! :) 🚒....

If you're able to, please consider adopting a hydrant during and after the big winter storm. Shovel a path to the street and clear the snow for three feet in all directions. This is especially helpful where plows pile it up, and it can save precious minutes in an emergency.

Here we go again! With another storm coming, stay aware of the #CarbonMonoxide risks. Heating equipment, generators, & blocked exhausts often contribute to CO poisoning. Keep vents clear and be sure your CO alarms are working properly w/ fresh batteries in case of power outages!

If you're using a space heater to beat the cold this weekend, remember to plug it directly into a wall outlet -- not an extension cord or power strip. Keep anything that can burn at least 3' away on all sides, and always turn it off before leaving the room or going to sleep.

It's the first Saturday of the month, and that means it's Smoke Alarm Saturday! Tragically, 80% of this year's fatal fires have taken place in homes without working smoke alarms -- please take a few minutes to be sure you and your loved ones are protected: mass.gov/info-details/s…
