When I gained admission into medicine, my sister who is a physiotherapist told me that I'm lucky because MBBS students stick together and support each other I started school hoping to be part of one big family but I realized that that was not the case Med students are toxic,WHY??

It’s gotten to a point where, in Nigeria, especially in higher institutions, problems hardly get resolved until there’s a peaceful protest or social media outrage.

I genuinely want to know: what’s the most “Nigerian school” thing your institution has ever done? And no, “no light during exams” doesn’t count because that’s universal except in OAU.

Funny thing is I've not seen any medical student whose routine from 100l - 600l is wake up, go to school, study, write exams and graduate. They're always up and about somehow...always doing something unrelated to medicine to stay sane! Tweets like these are really unnecessary

NiMSA? You didn’t join. FAMSA? Not interested. IFMSA? Never bothered. No affiliations outside your medical school. Volunteer for outreach? Nope. Student politics? Nowhere to be found. Research? No time. Skills training? Not for me. Okay, at least get distinctions… Ah, still no.

This just made me remember a story I heard. A BSC and MSC holder of physiology came back to study medicine and failed physiology first incourse. The one that happened in my school sef, anatomy graduate follow us fail anatomy 1st incourse

As a Medical Doctor who also holds a BSc degree in Anatomy , I can tell you that Medical Doctors most especially Surgeons are well within their rights to say they know Anatomy more than any basic medical or health professional.

Big scam. In 2008 when UNIZIK didn't give me admission, instead they gave me Botany after having 288 in my first Jamb and scoring 71/10 in Post jamb. When I considered changing course. I thought about pharmacy. Could you believe they told me that I just take the Botany, that after the first year, if I score so high, they will bring me in for medicine. I told my dad, capital NO and we went home to try again next year

Two things you must NEVER do if you want to study Medicine in Nigerian University: 1. Don’t apply to a university with accreditation issues. 2. Never fall for: “Take Anatomy or Physiology first. If you can get 5.0 in 100L, we’ll give you Medicine.” It rarely happens.

I'm saying this as someone who was heavily involved in MSA activities—it is totally fine if someone doesn't want to be involved at all. Some people are really just trying to stay sane in med school and get through it in one piece and doing so is an achievement of it's own

I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.
