OKR is just a tool, and the results you get from any tool depend on how you use it. Learn why companies are not getting results from OKR and what you can do about it in my new article. members.outcomeedge.com/p/outcome-driv…

11) Employees resist setting ambitious OKRs/goals, admitting mistakes, or asking questions. 12) People don’t take ownership of their OKRs/goals. People see them as a formality that doesn’t guide their day-to-day work.

Everyone is using OKR, but orgs are not getting the results they want. I’ve talked to hundreds of orgs about the problems they wanted to solve with OKR. The same 12 issues appeared, regardless of whether they used OKR or not. I’d bet that you'll relate to some of them (thread):

@ianharveyOT It's not an abbreviation. Goodhart talks about tendencies in a system, just like Campbell's law. Strathern's version talks in absolutes. It's the type of meme that our brains love, but it's completely wrong. We've all set targets with useful measures, haven't we?.

@far33d Some people think that in this post-AI world, high-quality content will be even more valuable. So human generated content will be even more valuable. But competitors will be able to copy your and fine tune it to SEO using AI. What do you think?

If this works in a repeatable way it’s going to deeply weaken any existing SEO moats and poison what limited value remains in Google search. It’s inevitable. AI tools have so dramatically lowered the cost of certain tasks that it’s unlocked whole new strategies.

We pulled off an SEO heist that stole 3.6M total traffic from a competitor. We got 489,509 traffic in October alone. Here's how we did it:

I’ve read an early copy of Itamar’s book and it is really good. If you dream of working like the best product companies but struggle to make it work in real life, you have to read this book.
Itamar Gilad@ItamarGilad

WHAT?!! My Book is Now Published! (one day ahead of schedule 😲 ) I'll send an official post tomorrow, but just to let you know that the Kindle version of my book Evidence-Guided is now available for sale. (The print version is coming in 1-3 days). Here's where you can get it:

A sneak-peek into my upcoming book Evidence-Guided (coming Sep 20). Switching to an evidence-guided mode of work is rarely easy. Here are some tried-and-tested ways to drive the change. buff.ly/3YPAcd3

"And they lived aligned ever after..." We've been taught that alignment is like a fairy tale, a one-and-done thing. But real life is not a Disney movie. There are tradeoffs and misunderstandings. Things change. Daniel is on to something when he talks about dynamic alignment.
Daniel Schmidt@danielfschmidt

For most companies, strategic alignment is static and fragile. Dynamic alignment, in contrast, gets stronger with change and is way less exhausting than aligning on OKRs. This post explains... blog.doubleloop.app/does-your-comp…

Great advice from @jerrycolonna: “Efforts to improve organizational culture that fail to address leaders’ own growth areas and challenges will, at best, shift things on the margins. Those who hold power must do their work.”

It's fun to see Silicon Valley folks surprised that Threads launched no updates in SIX DAYS while many corporations can't release anything in six months. Two opposing mental models at play.
