@CreweOlenka @AirPassRightsCA @MargauxPeckLaw TBH it looks very much like the same form, it asks for the same info, receipts etc but I had already filed before they posted it. They may just have created a new landing page to lift it up, but if I don’t hear back on my expenses I will file them again on the new one.
English

@megmacs @AirPassRightsCA @MargauxPeckLaw Would this same link also be the place to seek reimbursement for having to buy a new flight bc AC did not rebook ? Or, is that reimbursement done only through the new form they posted Aug 20?
English

@MargauxPeckLaw @iamalie22 @AirPassRightsCA Mine too. I have claimed under EU passenger rights before. IMO it should all be automatic not require research & wait for you to claim. Our train from London to Edinburgh was delayed 30+ min & we got an immediate 50% refund.
AC has info hidden here:

@MargauxPeckLaw @HalakItLikeThat @AirPassRightsCA Initially they were telling us Wed or Thurs was the earliest they could do but I was finding all kinds of earlier flights with 4 seats, from $2k-12k+ had to push hard then surprise! They magically found space. If we hadn’t pushed, I figure we’d maybe be just getting home now.
English

@HalakItLikeThat @megmacs @AirPassRightsCA Our connecting flight from NYC to Toronto was half empty too, I couldn’t believe it!
English

@HalakItLikeThat @MargauxPeckLaw @AirPassRightsCA We had family also calling in to support from Canada, after 6hrs they managed to get through to a person, (we never did) we were given many flight options, despite the email saying there were none to be found, there were empty seats too. So we were not out of pocket for flights.
English

@megmacs @MargauxPeckLaw @AirPassRightsCA Did they cover the flight you booked yourself in addition to the 520GBP?
English

@AirPassRightsCA @MargauxPeckLaw It only asked me to upload receipts for my expenses, but I added a note saying I was also claiming compensation under UK261 (just in case they were hoping that people don’t know about it, or wouldn’t bring it up unless you did) now waiting to hear about my expenses. 🤷🏼♀️
English

@AirPassRightsCA @MargauxPeckLaw Sure thing. It said to wait 3 days from my return (Sunday) to file a claim, kept checking until it would allow me to proceed, submitted on Wednesday, sent me a case number to check for updates tho it said to allow up to 30 days, was resolved today.

@MargauxPeckLaw @AirPassRightsCA Me too! And that’s £520x4 people, had to file each claim individually and got 4 emails back today saying the same.
English

@MargauxPeckLaw @AirPassRightsCA Have just received this update regarding my AC claim. I specifically mentioned UK261 on my claim as they had no language around it on their form. Just asked regarding compensation for the receipts I submitted for the hotel/food in Atlanta as they don’t mention it here.

English

@moleyarrozporfa AC did nothing. My MIL called a travel agent friend who helped get us rebooked, took her 6 hours, we never could get through into a call queue ourselves. We are home safe with overtired kids, a day late w/a long layover in Atlanta. Hope you have had some luck!
English

@megmacs @AirCanada What happened? Did you end up getting rebooked?? I have a flight tomorrow morning 😩
English

@AirCanada our flight is still listed as on time, was notified it was open to check in, unsurprisingly, it was not, we have had no communication from you to say whether alternative arrangements are being made for us to get home.

@AirCanada YOU left us stranded abroad at the last minute to find our own way home, no rebooking, no one answering the phone… not the flight attendants. Pay them.

@AirPassRightsCA They aren’t offering any alternatives, no rebooking, arranging hotels …or any communication at all, just click here to cancel… calling says no agents available and hangs up on you.

If your flight gets cancelled, don’t accept a refund from Air Canada: expert

@atRachelGilmore @AirCanada No rebooking, no accommodations, no one to answer the phone, no passenger rights. Just left abroad to fend for ourselves with price surging 30+ hr flights to get ourselves back home… but we’re still not mad at the flight attendants, Mike.
English

@AirCanada Email says call, call says check the website, website says to call or check your email. Enter the infinite loop… UK passenger rights say you need to provide us with accommodation if you can’t get us on a flight. I see flights. Instead you cancel our entire booking?

English

If your flight is cancelled, don't go to the airport without a confirmed new booking. For options, customers should refer to the rebooking policy: aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home…

English

@AirCanada …and your support line says “sorry, I can’t connect you an agent right now…” and simply hangs up, no hold or request callback option.
English

@AirCanada So our early morning flight was canceled a few hours ago. We have to check out of our hotel tomorrow morning. Where do we go then? I can see $$$$ flights on other carriers, why can’t you? We have children with us… you’re just going to abandon your responsibility?

English

As of 12 pm on Aug. 15, 2025, this is the operational wind down impact due to the impending CUPE strike:
