A Nigerian government official stole 20,000 American identities and scammed the American government out of $2.4 million. When Hurricane Harvey tore through Texas and left thousands of Americans homeless, he was sitting in Nigeria filing fake disaster relief claims in their names. When Irma hit Florida weeks later he did the same thing. He had been doing this quietly for years and nobody had caught him. Then COVID hit and everything shut down overnight. Millions of Americans lost their jobs and started filing for unemployment benefits just to feed their families. He already had over 20,000 stolen American identities. Real names. Real social security numbers. Real people who were now desperate and filing for help. He filed their claims before they could and collected their money across 17 different states. With the stolen funds he bought a Mercedes SUV and shipped it back to Nigeria. He posed for magazine photos with it and got a government appointment. He came back to America on a business class ticket. When investigators caught up with him he was at JFK Airport about to board his flight home, wearing a $10,000 watch and a $35,000 gold chain. They arrested him at the gate. From jail he was recorded on the phone trying to move money around. He got 5 years in a US federal prison. The US Department of Justice press release identified him specifically as the Special Assistant to the Governor of Nigeria's Ogun State. The governor said nothing. Not a statement. Not a condemnation. Nothing. His name was Abidemi Rufai. His boss is Dapo Abiodun. 💀🇳🇬🇺🇸

Day 14 of demanding justice for Ochanya I’ve been posting every day, and the silence from @BenuePoliceNG hurts more than words can say. It feels like they’re hoping we’ll get tired and move on. But how can we? Ochanya was just a child. A daughter. A dreamer sent to live with family for a better future. Instead, she suffered hell for years until VVF took her life at 13. Her uncle walks free after acquittal. Her cousin Victor is still nowhere to be found. This isn’t just a case, it’s a wound on every girl child in Nigeria. If we don’t fight for her, who will fight for the next one? Please, Benue State Government and Nigeria Police, break this painful silence. Issue a statement. Declare him wanted. Show us you care about our daughters. Tag everyone who can help. Don’t let Ochanya’s light fade. Rest peacefully, angel 💔 @benuestategovt @BenuePoliceNG @PoliceNG #JusticeForOchanya #JusticeForTheGirlChild #JusticeForOchanya

Day 13 of demanding justice for Ochanya. It's been over 7 years since 13-year-old Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbanje died from complications of years of horrific sexual abuse. Yet one of the main suspects, Victor Ogbuja, remains at large, and the Benue State Police Command has stayed largely silent. Why is there still no official statement? Why no sustained manhunt or wanted posters for the fugitive? Why does it feel like this case is being allowed to fade away again? The family and the people of Benue deserve better. We will not let Ochanya’s death be swept under the carpet. Everyone, please tag and call on the authorities to act now: @benuestategovt @BenuePoliceNG @PoliceNG Tag Benue State government officials, your representatives, and anyone who can help put pressure on them. Let’s keep the pressure on until real action is taken. Justice delayed is justice denied. Rest in peace, Ochanya 💔🙏 #JusticeForOchanya #JusticeForOchanya #JusticeForOchanya #JusticeForTheGirlChild

You big accounts dragged Simi and Adekunle Gold for weeks over old tweets. You bullied Femi Dapson and Simi Dapson for months over their personal choices These people didn’t kill anyone, yet y’all nailed them to the cross. Now it’s Winifred’s turn and suddenly everyone has lost their voice, Keyboards gone silent, fingers numb 😂 This country no fit better with people like these big accounts in government. You’ll never get justice they’ll just keep quiet and watch you suffer. Selective outrage at its finest.

Day 12 of calling on the Benue Police Command. At this point, I think they are seeing our tags and ignoring them, or they don’t have data on the official police phone. Did they sell the phone? @PoliceNG is not even responding or reacting on their behalf. Even if only to lie to us and let things calm down. I hope Ochanya’s spirit deals with them 😢 Is the Benue State Police trying to let this case die down again? Why are they not responding, releasing an official statement, or putting up wanted posters for these criminals? Let’s not stop asking for justice 🙏🙏 RIP Ochanya @benuestategovt @BenuePoliceNG @PoliceNG #justiceforochanya #justiceforochanya #justiceforochanya #justiceforochanya #justiceforochanya #justiceforochanya

Nigeria Is Not A Country. It Is Gilbert Chagoury’s Private Estate. I was in Geneva today. Two hours with a very senior Swiss banker — a good friend. The subject was Gilbert Chagoury. This man does not laugh easily. He laughed constantly. Every time I described what was happening in Nigeria — every contract, every honour, every port deal — he laughed. Not with me. At Nigeria. And I sat there feeling something I rarely allow myself to feel. Shame. Here is what I was telling him. Since Tinubu took office, Gilbert Chagoury — a man convicted in Switzerland for laundering Abacha’s stolen funds — has collected over $12.7 billion in Nigerian federal contracts. The Lagos-Calabar Highway. Tin Can Port. Apapa Port. Snake Island. All without competitive bidding. And the President’s son Seyi sits on the board of a Chagoury Group subsidiary — then goes on television to tell Nigerians his father is not enriching his friends. My banker friend laughed at that one the longest. In January, Tinubu gave Chagoury Nigeria’s second highest national honour. The presidency didn’t even announce it. Someone posted a photograph on X. Then came London. A £746 million port financing deal sealed at Downing Street during Tinubu’s state visit — with Chagoury reportedly in the delegation, and his company already selected to execute the contract. The British know his history. They have decided it does not matter. My Swiss friend told me plainly: Nigeria will never be taken seriously as long as a man who helped Abacha loot the treasury can return decades later, collect billions in contracts, receive national honours, stand beside the President in London, and face zero consequence. He is right. I will not stop writing. But tonight I drove back to my hotel carrying the weight of a country that deserves so much better than what it is being given. This is why those “alien-headed” men feel jealous and envious of Nigerian men. But why would you be driving such a luxury car in a country where majority of men are lazy and cannot even afford bicycles, and expect them not to feel envious? 😂😂

They are all quiet because one of their close allies is involved in this mess. If it was an influencer like me or Sambo or someone they hate passionately and are waiting for their downfall, they would all call for the person's head just like they did with Simi. Evil family 😤😤

I’ve been tweeting every single day tagging Benue State Police, NAPTIP, the Attorney General, Federal Ministry of Justice, and even the Senate pushing for this case to be reopened. Many real advocates have too. We don’t vanish when the trend dies. We’re here grinding while you drop one viral “gotcha” post and call everyone else fake. Let me educate you properly since you seem to have missed the file: Ochanya Ogbanje was raped repeatedly from age 5 to 13 by her uncle (Andrew Ogbuja, a polytechnic lecturer) and his son Victor. They destroyed her body, she developed Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF), constant infections, and died in agony at 13 in 2018. 2022 judgment - Andrew was acquitted by Benue High Court because police and prosecutors bungled it, no DNA test on him, two conflicting autopsy reports (one said “natural causes,” the other linked it to rape), zero proper forensic work. - Victor was never arrested he’s still living large somewhere, posting videos. - Felicia (the aunt who knew and did nothing) got a pathetic 5-month sentence for “negligence.” Seven years later, in 2026, the case is still NOT reopened despite petitions, celebrity noise, and Senate mentions. The system failed a child so badly that rapists walk free on technicalities. This is exactly why the country is the “godforsaken hellhole” you and others love to complain about and why serious people japa. Impunity is baked in but instead of directing this energy at the police, prosecutors, and judges who slept on the job, you’re attacking the only people still applying pressure. So tell us, lawyer: What have you done offline besides this tweet? Or is calling others “fake activists” just your own way of farming impressions? #JusticeForOchanya isn’t a trend. It’s a test of whether Nigeria still has a soul."
