Reminds me of that time that Kansas #specialeducation was fully funded for a few minutes in the House. Then the #ksleg conservatives rallied and called for a new vote - once they'd told everyone to change their votes. Imagine what could happen if reps actually represented. #ksed

I just talked to a Kansas Republican Senator about sustaining the veto for the anti-trans sports bill. They essentially told me they don’t believe in this bill, but they “don’t make the decisions.” Absolutely spineless. What use are lawmakers if they don’t vote their conscious?

Questions nobody has answered… A parent who selects ESAs/vouchers has the option to pay for college with unused voucher funds. Parents who select public school don’t have this option. So those who can already afford private school also benefit from vouchers to pay for college?

Kansas school board members are encouraged to approve a resolution that praises public schools, opposes bills diverting tax dollars to unregulated nonpublic schools, and calls for funding to serve all Kansas students.

@mosswa My daughter was horrified that her fellow students in H-ELA 10 didn’t know who Benedict Arnold was. I asked if she then spoke up to answer the oral question from the teacher? “Noooo,” that’s something that causes other students to bully the show-off who answers. Sigh.

Yesterday, education leaders and advocates held a press conference to address the special education funding shortfall in Kansas and its impact on students.
By statute, the state should cover 92% of excess special ed. costs; currently, it only covers 71%.
