NFTs were not just some fancy art, nor cheap illustrations. NFTs were also not the perfect investment. As a matter of fact, NFTs were “the club membership cards” at their very core. People valued them the most for what they signify. And they were all about connection. Connecting likeminded young people, thriving on good vibes. This was probably the first time some isolated, very smart people who happen to love arts and the comfort that come with the money itself. Previously this was not a privilege reserved for the young, it belonged to the elite. Now we had a base to connect on, and it also paid the bills. It was therapeutic, loneliness and financial woes wore off for a bit, and life just felt much better. “WAGMI” was the word (and the feeling) of the year for the 2021-22 OGs class. You just had to be there, it was the second Renaissance for real. The zeitgeist. Then, what would excite me about NFTs again? The community, and nothing more. Nerds and neurodivergent people (aka the whole NFT community) are not the best when it comes to networking, so online communities and thematic meetups/events definitely help a lot for the people to discover themselves and build better things that they cannot otherwise build. It’s the hive mind. Also each NFT project is built upon different values, so everyone can choose their tribe, expressing their full selves within a community. It’s like soccer, but better. So the answer is, to authentically connect likeminded people under the same roof, through core values, exciting lore & also true financial value delivered, to collectively win and win again. A great NFT project should just achieve that, and @BoredApeYC is THE blueprint.
