@thismomloves Absolutely. It's going to cause confusion for parents who are hearing from schools that their child is reading multiple grade levels behind and yet EQAO scores report that their reading is just fine.

⚠️ Caution when interpreting EQAO (Ontario standardized testing) results. Reading passages can be digitally read to all students, assessing only the language comprehension side of reading; this assessment is NOT an indicator of word reading skill or full reading ability. ⚠️

“The Night Tree” by Eve Bunting is a new-to-me fav. After reading we were inspired to decorate our own night tree with popcorn chains, dried oranges, and cranberries as a gift to the animals. We’re very excited to observe our night tree over the next few days. #fdk #tldsblearns

Using @UFLiteracy during our whole class lessons and following up in small groups has allowed our students to build decoding and encoding skills. Focusing on printing and letter formation (using sky, grass, ground strips) has made a huge impact.@TLDSB_literacy @LeslieFrostPS

@lcfettes @thismomloves I hear you. Since we're outdoors so much my teaching partner and I both have waterproof portable mics. Voice saver. Hope you're doing well.

@thismomloves Ours were disconnected during our renovation, and I miss it more than I could have imagined. I’m choosing to wear a mask again, and it is so hard to project my voice so that students are able to hear me clearly. So important always, and especially with a second language!

Our classes are all equipped with sound systems that include lapel & handheld mics. I don’t know of research on the use of these in the classroom (please share if you do) but it makes sense that improved sound during lessons would be necessary for some, beneficial for all.
