@PatrikarSanket Google Analytics is an example of Google product, which became completely unusable over time. They replaced useful pre-configured dashboards with garbage reports and propose using unusable constructor for building own reports.

Users are lazy (me included). They hate complex configs. They hate reading docs. They want an app which works of the box in an expected way. Why many product owners and developers don't understand this simple truth?

Something I’m often fascinated by is the origin of YouTube thumbnails, and the nature of why we as YouTubers often like to copy each other. (I’d like to emphasise first and foremost that I’m not calling anyone out with this tweet, but rather making an observation on creativity and the YouTube meta as a whole.) Here’s a thumbnail strategy that is proven to work. This video came up on my feed and it just coincided with some YouTube research I was doing, so thought I’d talk about it. The below title and thumbnail is a direct port of other titles that have performed well, analogised for the correct audience. Why? YouTubers do it for solid business reasons. Because of prior evidence, it’s likely to perform well too. Many of Ali’s videos perform in the 100K - 500K range at a baseline, but I’d predict this one would hit 500K+ and probably even 1M+ views. Many elements of human psychology remain stable over time, even if some of the specifics change. For people that have never seen this concept before, this might be an extraordinarily intriguing idea. Does that mean it’s a bad thing? Well, not necessarily. I think that when people take entire storylines, that’s certainly wrong. But here, there’s still an element of transformation of at least the content part of the piece. It’s probably a mistake for anyone to think that something is pure creativity. Whether their creative inputs are from others, from life, or from nature - ultimately those inputs still exist. A 1:1 copy of a thumbnail is a very pure and easy to recognise form of copying. Even the most “creative” and “original” thing is just an amalgamation of many unoriginal things. There’s other ethical considerations — for example, helping people become more productive is generally considered a good thing. Not everyone will know this, but even the greatest devices you ever owned were at least developed in part from transforming - perhaps stealing - the ideas of others. You should read about Steve Jobs and Xerox if you get the chance, for example, because that story might blow your mind. Eventually though, let’s say you were super ethical and attributed whoever you borrow stuff from. Well, there comes a point where you can’t even attribute the original “creator”…because the origin gets lost, until no-one knows where the original concept came from. It’s like Marcus Aurelius’ observation in Meditations: everyone will be forgotten to time eventually…
