@WeirdIsntBad I’m talking about using it within the context of a bad faith argument that Jaime ‘doesn’t really care’ about KL or he’d have told someone, not that no one should even wonder his exact reasoning (which isn’t explicitly laid out though I think one can read between the lines)

good bit in clash of kings is tyrion comically finding wildfire jars all over the city and just going 'huh, that's odd' and adding it to the pile with no introspection whatsoever

People love to bring up Jaime being rude to Brienne as criticism of the ship but this scene here lampshades how his actual feelings about her show through action rather than the sharp-tongued, mean persona he falls back to to navigate a world that has routinely disappointed him

@g0lightlyy elsewhere he’s described the Lannister twins as among the main characters so I just don’t think he has the same rigid definition of ‘main’ as certain subsets of fandom do

I also want to be clear I think there’s another layer to this where people use GRRM’s identification of these characters as key to enable a toxic stan environment in the fandom and that’s my real issue with it, in addition to the fact that it’s more rigid than the way GRRM writes

Afraid of getting #killed for saying this but I do think there’s a good chance that Jaime and Brienne will be extremely important to the long night based on Jaime’s weirwood dream, they just weren’t really developed when GRRM wrote that letter
