@HardwareUnboxed @opinali the amount of "artistic control" described here is probably no more than a a few additional per-pixel masks and global settings, far from ideal for a post-process filter that alters the entire visual direction of your game

Are we supposed to actually believe DLSS 5 gives developers control to maintain a game's "unique aesthetic" when the examples they show completely change the artistic style of some characters? "Ah yes, this completely different looking person is what I wanted all along!"

Context is important too. It puts additional levers into the artists' hands. Whether or not those tools get abused is another matter altogether since evidently this runs the risk of AI Slop being pushed even more broadly into games.

@josh75130668590 It doesn't look like a probe system & per-pixel is such buzzword way to put it since most "per-pixel" solutions are just per-pixel for some half or quarter res render target. Then *that* is temporally upscaled to the native geometry pass but nobody explains that to the masses.

1080p is targeted for 60fps on main 9th gen. This wouldn't be an issue if all the high-end rendered promotional footage wasn't *already* a temporally smeared/RT flickering mess. Now 90% of the PC market will have to compensate with Nvidia locked AA: youtu.be/xojL9MdxcRs
